Prevention of Patient fall
Patient fall is defined as an event which results in a patient coming to rest inadvertently on the ground or floor or other lower level resulting injury.
Measures to prevent patient fall
Fall risk assessment and Reassessment,
Maintain bed at appropriate height,
Nurse call bell,
Bed Pad/Floor pad alarms,
Place the frequently used item nearby the patient,
Side rails should be put up beside the bed,
Always lock the wheels of the bed,
Placement of food table or cardiac table,
Adequate lighting,
Place assistive devices near the patient bedside (If in use,)
Ensure floor is not wet and slippery,
Educate the patient regarding fall prevention,
Elimination needs
Frequent visit & monitoring,
Seat belts are used while transporting the patients
Use of Restraints
