Great video. We arrived at Yellowstone the day before the roads washed out. Stayed in a cabin at Old Faithful the first night. Had it for one night so we checked out early. Heard later the North and NE entrances were closed. Then all entrances were closed to incoming visitors. Went to check in for our second night at the Snow Lodge cabins and was told everyone needed to get out of the park. Before we left towards West Yellowstone, it was kind of eerie, roads which were normally crowed were empty. Would drive miles and miles without seeing a car. Actually used cruise control! We did have a nice "binocular" bear sighting, Disappointed we couldn't stay longer but glad we could get out. Glad we were there when we were.

Great video! Though I am somewhat familiar with Yellowstone, I paused the video and used Google Maps to see the exact location of where the pictures were taken. I also pulled up the USGS streamgage Yellowstone River at Corwin Springs, MT and noted that the river was running below 2,000 cfs till May, and then peaked at 48,300 cfs on June 13. That's quite a change!

Thank you so much for this video! It's so interesting to see this because I was there in the first couple days of June for my honeymoon! My husband and I will be there on the 19th and I can't wait to see it all now! Thank you and every single person who had a part in getting this place up and running again so quickly!

Thanks, very informative. It's truly amazing how fast the park service and all involved started to get the park back open. Great job, thank you.

I am so impressed with the NPS response to the flood! I evacuated from Lamar Valley on June 13 and exited the Park at West Yellowstone. Flood waters of the Lamar, Yellowstone, Gardner, Gibbon and Madison were spectacular and scary in the narrow canyons but placid as they spread out in flatter areas of forest and meadow. Gibbon Fall was unrecognizable. Thanks Jake for the excellent overview of what the Park looks like now.
