This is such a perfect debut for Yena, I'm so proud of her. (The rest of the album is also amazing, "Lxxk 2 U" in particular is like a 2022 top 10 b-side for me already.)

fyi yena and bibi are in a variety show called "girl's high school mystery class" I think that's where they met for the first time and eventually yena asked bibi for a feature in this song

This is probably one of my favorite debuts from the last 2 years in kpop. This just brings such a wonderfully positive message with it, Yena's smiles and everything are infectious, her ACE qualities shine through. Honestly, like, I never paid Yena much attention during IZ*ONE, I was distracted by Eunbi and Chaeyeon, but this...Yena went from being unknown to like, I'm considering her an ult. bias for my soloists. Dude. This song HAS THAT POWER. I really also recommend checking out her Showcase stage and I THINK MCountdown? For "Lxxk 2 U" when you get the chance. Her mini-album showcases her stylistic versatility.

I most definitely reommend listening to her bsides too, they're all so good. my personal favorites (and i think in general considered the stand-outs of the album by a lot of people) are lxxk 2 u and pretty boys, excellent songs. lxxk 2 u has a showcase and a music show performance, definitely recommend checking them out! that song is a pop/rock break-up anthem where she tells her ex that she hopes he'll be miserable forever, and a little like smiley it feels very reminiscent of 2000/early 2010s Disney movies/musicals (imo). Also, since you mentioned yenas rapping ability and how she technically wouldn't have needed bibi as a feature - check out her debut showcase to hear yenas take on bibis verse!!

I love how versatile she is, to the point where, i was not expecting this from her yet it is so her lol and her whole mini album is soooo good as well, she came in strong for her solo debut

I'm not normally a huge fan of really cute concepts (I don't hate them or anything, it's just not what I normally gravitate towards) but Smiley is so good. The song's a bop, Yena fits this concept perfectly, BIBI as the villain was an absolutely inspired choice. I'm obsessed. Between this and WJSN Chocome's Super Yuppers (which I'm also absolutely obsessed with) this month has been making me question my stance on cute concepts.

What's even more amazing is that she wrote a song for her fellow IZ*ONE members called "before anyone else", which she out in some of IZ*ONE'S song titles in the lyrics. It's she's IZ*ONE'S hyper energetic vitamin, but she can write ballads that'll make you cry your heart out.
