A: Hey Trevor.
B: Oh, hey Cheryl. How's your day going?
A: So far, so good. Just prepping for a class. You?
B: Same. Did you get some lunch?
A: Yeah. I had a burrito. You?
B: Tuna sandwich.
A: Actually, there's something I want to ask you.
B: Yeah? What about?
A: Did you just ask me about what I had for lunch because you were actually curious?
B: Of course. Why else would I ask?
A: Oh, OK. No I... It's just that, I keep getting that same question over and over again. Like, almost everyone I run into. I know they're just making small talk, but it's funny. Everyone seems so keen on finding out what I ate.
B: Well, I guess you could think of it as small talk. But for us, it's more or less how we greet each other. So, when we ask that, it's effectively saying like "How are you?".
A: Oh~ Is that right?
B: Not always, but most of the time. Yes.

우와ㅎㅎ 역시 믿고 봅니다! 여기서 배우는 표현들 진짜 좋네요! 제가 곧 미국으로 장기여행으로 가야되는데 영어회화를 지금 열심히 배우는 중인데 제가 영어회화를 연습하고 있는 언어교환101에서 유튭 영상에서 배운 베이직 표현들을 실제 원어민들 앞에서 써보고 하니까 확실히 피드백도 빠르고 입밖으로 뱉어보니까 더 기억이 잘남는것 같더라구요ㅎㅎ

How is your day going? -so far so good Why else 그게 아니라면 왜 - 하겠어? make small talk 잠담을 나누다 be keen on = be interested in I guess you could think of it as 무엇이라고 볼 수 있다 / 생각할 수 있다 more or less 무엇과 다르지 않은 / 무엇이나 마찬가지인 It's more or less how we greet each other effectively 결국은 무엇과 같은 *not always, but most of the time

Thank you for a new video! I think this is exactly the answer the question that foreigners have been curious about why Koreans always ask them 'Did you get some breakfast or lunch or dinner?' whenever they run into.

Of course why else would I ask? 당연하지 아니면 왜 물어보겠어 😅 Everyone seems so keen on finding out what I ate 모두들 내가 뭐 먹었는지 알아내려고 안달인거 같아 But for us it's more or less how we greet each other. So, when we ask that it's effectively saying like "how are you?" 근데 우리한테는 걍 인사?안부?하는 거랑 마찬가지라고 보면 돼. 그니까 우리가 그걸 물어볼때는 "how are you"랑 결국 같은거 인거지

Yeah, I feel you! I've got the same question from my several foreign friends. They said "Hey, why do you keep asking me what I have for lunch?" In Korea, it's very common questions, right?
