Nothing hit it home harder for me than when , a few weeks back, my friends, wife, and I all went to see an Ozzy cover band. Dinner, some drinks and a night out with friends? a rare treat indeed. To all you 50 year olds that I made fun of for being "OOLLDD" when I was young... I offer my sincerest apologies.

I went from eagle eye vision, straight to bi-focals! It felt like it was almost over night!! 😮😅

I think it's fun that my brain interprets what I'm seeing due to poor vision. It comes up with some doozies as substitutions. See all sorts of "Freudian Slips" when reading things. LOL

I remember a time in my younger years where a gaseous odor (fart) was just that: an odor. Now I have to think about it before I release just in case!

This one stings. Two years ago I started wearing readers. Now they're all over the house and car. It's on the checklist of things I need when leaving the house. Below keys and wallet, just above pocket knife and backup pocket knife. I now wear button-up shirts with a pocket, just so I have a place to keep my reading glasses when I'm not wearing them. I'm wearing them right now, as I type this. It started at the same age my dad started wearing readers. So the cycle continues.

Got my first pair or reading glasses at 48. Converted to a Kindle now for the convenience of bigger font. I'm fooling myself really. 🙈

I have been wearing bifocals for about four months now. I was too stubborn to get them the year before, but I had to just get over it and buy some.

I damn near cried when I realized I had to hold my phone out further to read a text message.

I used to be the range retraining NCO🤬... I could knock down an ant hill at 300m..... NOW I'm only 20/20 in one and 20/25 in the other😓💯🤣😂✌️🪖🇺🇸

I'm grateful for my glasses. Because I need them to see crap close up. Which means, I can still see that deer 300 yards out crystal clear for that perfect shot. That I need to put on glasses to read my bills isn't that irritating, as I really didn't want to see them anyway, but here we are.

I always had glasses... now i have bi-focal's... getting older sucks.

Thanks for the reminder about how harsh the aging process is...just now 40 and haven't left the house without readers in 4+ years...for some of us it hits harder and faster lol. Here's to good genetics for those of you lucky enough to have them 😂😂😂😢

Well this 1 miserably hits the nail on the head.

I was finally able to afford to get the laser surgery for my eyes in my early forties and it fixed the distance vision wonderfully. Still needed to have glasses for reading though;).

Leaving the phone home while going out is a wonderful thing.

I had better than perfect vision until I entered my 40’s. Now, for the last decade and a half, I have had progressive lenses. Thankfully you can turn the font size up on your phone up to ridiculous proportions.

I’m in trifocals, and I still have trouble reading small text, like ingredients lists on food packaging. I have a couple food allergies (thankfully mild)!

I mostly blame the military for my declining vision, long hours in a dark room looking at a green and black display.

I have to take my tri-focals off to read with my one remaining "good" eye.

Have you seen some of the books printed in the 70s and 80s recently? I picked one up in a second hand store not long ago, it went straight back on the shelf, the print was minute. We're lucky We're all not wearing thick coke bottle bottom glasses. Yes, i use reader's and no i can never find a pair when I need them!

Yeah i recently accused(to the wife) that society started making the print smaller cause i cant see the ingredients no mores.

I admit to taking pictures on my phone. They just have to make the print so small. 😂

Yep. That's ATS syndrome. Arm Too Short syndrome. You tend to get it the same time you get Dunlop's disease.

I've always needed glasses.

I needed glasses since I was 12. Nearsighted and astigmatism. My eyes are better now after the Lazic surgery. Still need reading glasses though.

I needed bifocals before I was 40. Now I'm 50 and kind of need trifocals. What the heck will I need at 60? Probably cataract surgery.

A few years ago I went to the eye doctor after the testing the doctor looked at me and said as we get older things don't work as good. I looked at and asked your telling me I need glasses right? He said yes. Then I went to the eye doctor again 4 years later and she said the same thing . I looked at her and said the other one said the same thing you did. She said yes you need a different pair of glasses. I asked like what she said bifocals . I said ok. She handed me the slip and said you know where to go . Down the hall on the left got it.

@Dadbod, I have no idea what you're talking about. I got my first pair of glasses when I was still a kid! My right eye has always been weaker then my left eye. Needed glasses to even things out.

Amen, brother! Rearranged and cleaned up my desk area today. This netted me five lost pairs of readers. I’m now back up to my full complement to have at least two pairs on every floor of the house.

LOL! Reading glasses are but the first step down a slippery slope which you will have no control over how far you fall or where your eyes end up. Is your optometrist talking about the floaters in your eyes yet? It is estimated that perhaps 50% of adults will have to have cataract surgery before age 60. That is a serious wake up call that screams “Damn I am getting old”.
