@@YepThatsIt hi mate, I've regular service the transmission in wife's old car ( every 15k ) car has 212,000 now Transmission shop reported the following fault codes Po 766- shift solenoid D performance Po 771 - shift solenoid E performance Now the only problem that has been funny with the car, is high rpm when car is cold or hot. And when I drive up our driveway ( steep driveway ) it does the high rpm. Cheers Jason

Just wanted to say thank you, watching this detailed seires gave me the info i needed to strip and clean my own valve body. I did also manage to change the internal filter inplace, you can cut the old one out and head/bend a new one in (theres a video on here) im not saying its right but when you trying to extend the life of a box its worth it i think. I too had the issue of not selecting gears after but this was the fact i didnt set the gears up right, there is 5 positions on the box comapred to the 4 on the lever so i set mine up past drive accidentally. Easy fix once i realsied. But yeah thanks again fingers crossed i can get some more miles out of it.

Thank you for excellent video I have done everything accordingly but at the moment i am at the stage where my ford mondeo has all the gear showing on dashboard rather than parking When i shift drive to neutral - reverse- park . i have a question. the ravenol machine thing that they use to change the oil isn't it doing the same thing or something similar when pressure flushing / cleaning the gear box with that additive or oil the use? i also have a problem with my mondeo,2 l diesel, powershift, 2013, 170 000 km with a transmission limited error with a P2714 code and in service they said that the gearbox needs a good flush with that machine thing, 7 l of oil for the gearbox and another 5 l for the flush. should i ask them to clean as you did? can you help me with an answer? thanks in advance

hi, those machines basically just change the fluid. on these trans you need to remove cover and also clean debris off of magnets and possible reverse flush your internal filter. the external filter inline the trans cooler line can be easily replaced but will have little affect on your issue. cheers

Hi there Thanks for this useful videos. We have followed all three parts and did all that you have done to clean the solenoid. When we are trying to put the assembly back into the gear, it doesn't seem to go in and seems something is preventing it. We are not applying force on it, fearing it might break. What you are doing at 6:15 onwards, we are stuck there. Do you know or guide what could be the reason. Would be a great help. Thank you

What's your opinion of external Magenfine filters? Are the all they claim to be by removing nearly all the debris floating about the fluid and increasing the life of transmissions and steering racks? Looking at the DCT parts availalbe from China, I see the external filter housing on the DCT boxes has a feed and return hose on top that could take a Magnefine?

hi, sorry for delay in reply, we just got back last monday. dct, dsg and cvt trans need extra often trans servicing to work as long as they were designed to....magnefine filters are only in the cooling line and will also need regular replacing so they dont block/restrict the cooling flow. however the internal trans filter should collect most of the large debris anyway ( but you need to disassemble trans to replace ) this is why more regular trans service is advised. see my vid dct reverse flush internal filter ( valve body removal necessary ) if you are having an issue, and always add more magnets and clean them regularly. cheers

Hey mate. Great video. I've got a ford galaxy, exactly the same thing has happened. Stripped everything down and cleaned as per your video. When I put it back together. I messed up and put it park when I lined the wheel up. Obviously it didn't work. I realised the error. Popped it all back off again, re-aligned with the box in drive. Now the box doesn't select gears properly from the lever in the car and won't actually engage any gears at the wheels. Any ideas how I'm getting stuck at this last bit? Or is it a case of the fault codes stored, so need to clear them before it realises everything is good again? Thanks

Hi I just fitted a second hand mega Tronics on my s max gear box I did follow your video step-by-step I can put the pin in like you said put a bit of pressure on and then I can select all the days selecting them on the gearbox its corresponding with the gearstick. I wanna push to deliver forward into Drive, I actually push it even one notch further. On the gear box is this correct

Hi. I’ve got a focus 2.0 diesel 2012 auto. It judders upon take off. I don’t know what to do. I have changed the oil and filter and it made little to no difference. Do you think my problem is the clutch?

hi, it can be any number of things. check all the basics first. did you have bits of plastic in fluid? if so clutch needs checking out. cheers

Amazing. I had my gearbox reconditioned completely by a specialized Ford place (Israel). After driving around 3 months and 1k miles, I got the P0766 code while maneuvering in a parking place. I turned the car off, waited a bit and then back on. Problem gone, code was gone (and no trace in history). I since drove around 3k miles and the gear is OK. I would love to hear your comment on this, since I'm still in warranty period and they would not service me unless they see the code in the TCM. Thanks.

I've seen lot of videos where they flush the transmission several times until all the oil looks clean. what are your thoughts on doing that. given I'm to nervous to do the full clean. also could you please confirm if this mps6 is wet clutch or dry.drom my reading it's wet?

Doing this on a 2011 focus diesel. All the magnets are caked and the little external filter was absolutely trashed. Mine would give a transmission fault warning on the dash, clutches would act weird and it would ether only give me odd or even gears. Would do it without fail when cold. Once warm it would only do it again if it shifted gears below 1300rpm

hi, these trans get premature issues because of underservicing or people thinking the external cooler filter is all it needs. every 50K good practice to take off front cover and clean magnets ( and add additional magnets ). cheers

@@YepThatsIt Yeah thats what happened here, never serviced for 220,000km. Magnets caked, solenoids caked. Tons of goo everywhere. The oil was trashed as well, super black and burnt. took ages cleaning it all out and a slight reassemble mishap forgetting the springs in the pressure control pistons. Drives great now.

Thanks again for your help with this. I've cured the solenoid fault codes but I now have P0715-60 "Turbine speed sensor disconnected". I am suspecting this is due to the ribbon cable wiring. What are the options to repair/replace the ribbon cable assembly?

Edit: I think what may have happened is that I've trapped the small square black connector with the red and yellow wires. I struggled to get the range wheel pin/bolt in, and I think it may be because the wire was under where the range wheel sits. I'm *hoping* I can repair the wiring (solder+hearshrink) and get the sensor alive again.

Hi "Yep" I have a problem with my 6dct450 in a Ford Kuga. I have done according to your videos with disassembly, cleaning, replacement of new solenoids, and assembly. The first assembly I ended up wrong with the selector wheel, I aligned with the service position. Then the gears did not work at all. The second time I lined up with D. Then I could put in R and N but when I put in D, N is shown in the display. I did the alignment a third time but the same result. I also get an error message Transmission limited function as soon as I start the engine. The battery is fully charged, the oil in level, however, can not find any ground cable to the gearbox. Need some help. Thanks in advance Chrille

hi, you may also need to reset/relearn trans. sometimes the shift forks sticking or not applying to correct position will cause that. cheers

Hi. Just a message to anyone else attempting this. On my Focus (2009, 2.0TDCi Powershift) I had to do the 'Clutch Self Learn' and 'Shift Fork Self Learn' procedures. Without doing this, I wasn't able to get reverse gear. But it works fine after doing that.

Hi, Great Instructional video YepThatsIt. I have followed your video up to the point I need to start the car warm oil and check the level. However, went to start the car and it said "Low Battery". Shouldn't below but have tried another battery, checked all connections, and reset the Warning. The car still won't start but says "unable to perform Hill Start! Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi mate how are you! I’ve got one of those DPS6 powershift gearboxes in my Ford kuga. It has been having gear shift problems and when it gets hot I can’t get reverse. I took it to Ford and they said it’s stuffed and they said they checked the oil and said it’s got metal fillings with the oil. They have told me the whole transmission needs replacing at a cost of $ 8935. Should I believe them or can this be fixed as I don’t have that kind of money. Rob!

hi, if the plastics haven`t shattered, having a fair bit of metal debris wear is normal, people do not service these transmissions enough or properly. see my other dct/dsg vids and add additional magnets. cheers

Hi, have you got a supplier to get solenoids quickly and at a half decent price. Btw, which solenoid is solenoid D as my reader is telling me that it’s stuck off when it plays up. Wanted to give this a go and clean them like you have but in case I’m stuck and need to buy a solenoid, I’d like a decent supplier. I’m in Melbourne. Unfortunately, I have 2 obd2 readers but neither of them can check the voltage of the solenoids like your can

hi, safety/limp mode indicates an electrical issue. check all basics 1st including strong battery, excellent earth strap connections ( measure across cable with multimeter ) brake switch, electrical connections etc. cheers 👍

hi, sometimes it may need relearn if fault was there for a long time or major. often if issue wasn`t too bad they will relearn as your drive. take note it will only relearn when at operating temp and there have to be no hard fault or intermittent/pending codes present. cheers

Hi, my gearbox (Mondeo mk4) also has 5 steps. Do I understand correctly that the Fifth Step comes after D? That is, like in your video: P - R - N - D - 5?. So do I have to go back a step when I'm at the top stop?

These videos are a great help, however, does anyone know the torque values for the solenoid bolts and the bolts that hold the mechatronic to the valve body and also the the platic sump cover. Also does anyone know the sequence and torque for the 11 bolts when installing the valve body back into the case. Thanks

wonderful ,Great job... i have one issue on my Volvo s60 which got the same transmission. fault code is P172C,P172E , shift fork A/B direction control valve stuck on. and error messege n the instrument cluster is" transmission performance is low" . and the issue is not every time usually on the cold start and sometimes it just come without any trigger. i plan to do this on next week. any suggestions from your side? thanks in advance

Hi, 4 days ago i repaired PS on my Mondeo mk4 DCT450. Full repair including stripped mecatronix and cleaned. After first start i made a clutch and fork learn. All was OK. After 10 km started to kick on D and R when starting from 0 KM. I try it to make again clutch learn and i have Clutch Ventilation Learn - ERR. You know something about it ? Had a shuttle valve stuck. All stripped clean tested and now unit back on gearbox. Failed, now have fault, open circuit on pressure control solenoid C. Also I’ve noticed when using live data the shift positions only show N, and D ?

yes, found fault, just needed to bend the spring loaded contacts on the solenoids up a small amount. Didn’t like doing it before, just didn’t want them to snap off. Couldn’t back flush the gearbox using the lower port, using my small submersible pump. It must have a no return valve in the system? Anyway, fingers crossed, now have all gears, down to the test drive. Thanks again for the video. Trev.

Thank you for nice video. Could you please give me an advice? I followed your instructions, instead of cleaning solenoids I replaced them with new ones. Everything seemed to be ok, but when assembled I got 2 errors P0705 and P0949 - Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit, and Auto Shift Manual Adaptive Learning Not Done. I can't start the car, as my car doesn't know which gear I'm in. Do you have any thoughts? Many Thanks.

hi, if you havent misaligned the range sensor gear or damaged the range sensor wiring, also check the wheel hasnt got metallic swarf on it and clean the mechatronic plate sensors. did you buy new oem or new second hand solenoids? i`ve had many try to use so called reco solenoids they bought on ebay with mostly bad results. cheers

Hi thank you for your quick reply. Firstly I have tried to clean sensor. Trigger on the gearbox was in D. When I switched the ignition to check it the D light was on that means he can see it. When I placed in Trigger in P same issue appeared. In my opinion sensor must be ok. I will try to put old solutions and check it. If you have any solutions pls let me know. By the way I bought new solenoids on ebay from Ford dealer shop.

hi, might help if people read through past comments and questions on our related vids ! make sure you have enough fluid then select gears, turn vehicle off and on again and do same a few times. it usually takes up movement if you have assembled everything properly and as well as properly torqued valve body to specs ( bolt torques are critical ) then you will also need to do relearn/readapts ( trans will only relearn/adapt at operating temp ) make sure battery is charged and strong ( low internal resistance ) earths and electrical connections are awesome. our other video playlists are usually listed as 1st comment or in description..cheers for beers if deserved, link is in description

Hi, my car ford focus tdci 2012 is erratically downshifting(sometimes) from 3rd gear to 1st gear then gets stuck in 1st gear in like 10 seconds. There is no stored code in tcm. Will this solve my problem? No check engine light as well

hi, if no stored codes could be contaminated sensors or buggered fork pistons? generally fault codes indicate electrical issues, a leaking solenoid will not give a fault code. cheers

It did not work, and then I went to the car dealership and found a food Mondeo car there and took all of the Solonoid from it! I replaced it with the one in my car, but the car did not start, and then I disassembled it again and then I installed the main old electronic part on the new one. Then it did, but the car was only walking back and I called someone from Poland who had a fault detection device here in Oslo, Norway. And he told me the new part must be programmed and the mechanic told me that the gear must be replaced completely and the serial number must be the same, and I am confused. I don’t know what to do???*

hi, sorry for delay in reply, we just got back last monday. if you only replace the solenoids, you won`t need to reflash ecu ( only if you change it ) however you will need to do a trans relearn to allow ecu to reconfigure itself quicker. it will do it on its own over time on its own. if you have made major changes best to do a relearn/back to factory settings for trans. cheers

And she was only working backwards and after a while she walked forward and then back, but she stopped permanently and the mechanic tells me that the clutch has been damaged and I don't think so! Hi, Thanks for the well instructed videos. I have a 2011 Focus Titanium with the same transmission. The issue i have is I only have 1st, 3rd and 5th gear.. I have done what you said, then replaced the solenoids and the TCM but still have the same issue. Have you had any issues like this at all. I will appreciate the feedback . Cheers :)

hi, the shiftforks operate separately 1-3-5 and the other is for 2-4-6, if you dont have 2-4 the plastic on the fork comes away or breaks, there is a billet upgrade for the 2-4 fork. or also the sensors can be heavily contaminated. cheers

Hi, thanks for the videos again . After solenoids change and reinstal the unit I'm facing unpleasant problem. Fluid starts to run out from the level check plug too early = as about 4 litres are filled. If I start engine at this moment, the flow become very strong. When I drain the fluid , I get about 1 litre from 1st chamber and 3 litres from 2nd chamber. It seems like a leak between chambers. :( Do you have any advice for me, please?

Hi, its OK, already. I'm sorry, I must made some mistake in previous try. Now I have filled about 6,5 litres of fluid before its start to run over. I stil get transmission malfunction error, but will try to warm the fluid again and repeat all fluid level process again. Last time it took few weeks of experiments to suppress all errors. ;) Tom

hi, you need to warm trans right up to purge air out of external cooling line filter, then let cool and adjust fluid level to temp specs. cheers

Bit of a backwards question here. Do you know anything that would make one of these damaged gearboxes show the fault? I have one that has faulted within 1000km of purchase. The dealer had it inspected but didn't show up in the computer or fault for them. I need to make it fault again and record it as evidence to get a refund on the car.

hi, id need more info, tests and checks to determine. was the trans new, rebuilt or second hand? leaking solenoids are considered a mechanical issue, you generally only get fault codes for electrical issues. take it back to the seller for further info ? cheers

I couldn't get any previous info. Was bought from an auction. All I could find is that the previous owner had a fluid change done, couldn't get any more than that. When it faulted it came up as limited transmission function and was chopping between gears and losing drive. I thought that would have saved in the computer. I put it into manual mode to see if it would help get it to my trailer, didn't do much good but the displayed showed 7th gear. I'm not too worried what the fault is just need to make it do it again as soon as possible so I can return the car. I'm assuming all I can do is keep driving but was curious if there was any way I could potentially speed up the process.

I had watch other vids. Thanks for uploaded. Where is your work shop located? I had an mc mondeo tdci dct box. Had an issue on gear 3 and 5 slipping under load. I been driving in manual mode find a sweet spot in gear 2 and 4 then skip gear 3 and 5 and I has no problems what so ever. Do you think is the solonoids or the clutch need to replace.

hi, I`m in north east of victoria....more than likely contaminated solenoid/s ( common as people don't service them enough or clean magnets by removing plastic side cover every 2nd service ). on these trans wise to go through all of solenoids & test whilst you have vbody out. from what you have described and from what I am understanding, it wouldn't be a shift piston leak as gearshift fork 1 (odd): r-n-5 ; gearshift fork 2 (odd): 3-n-1 ; gearshift fork 3 (even): 2-n-4 ; gearshift fork 4 (even): p-n-6. if you find bits of plastic in fluid or in valve body then would be shattered clutch spring guides/clips and could also be hardened or worn seals in the clutch pistons ( depending on what the condition of the fluid is...hope that helps cheers

hi, always check basics first..fluid level, battery strong and charges, electrical connections good, earth strap not not high resistance etc. then most likely has contaminated solenoid/s. these transmissions need a service every 30,000km regardless of what manufacturer says, and also with front cover removal and magnet clean every second service or they will give premature problems. see all my powershift vids kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7-Peq1i2paaaJc.html . cheers

hi, sounds like a solenoid isn`t working and/or internal pressure leak from hardened/worn seals. you may need to disassemble and have a peek inside.cheers
