Basically as the title says, a weigh in at the yard, little bits in my garden and scrapping out goodies found in skips for the cordage, copper, brass and chunky silver contacts.
If you are new here, I can't currently commit to a regular livestream due to my daughters complex needs so I do a regular weekly Wednesday night scrap chat premier as a way of chatting and keeping in touch with you guys whilst showing what I've been up to during the week.
I also am a bodycam girl, it isn't for everyone, if you get dizzy or seasick them bodycam isn't for you! I've tried a tripod on my bench but it just isn't practical, I don't have the space, hopefully when I get my bigger workshop next year I can set up a tripod and lose the bodycam, but for now I work with what I've got!
I'm fully licenced for my area and ask prior permission for items inside skips and so far nobody has ever said no, they want the extra space :) I still do quick dives to avoid passing comments, especially as I'm usually out in the evening.
Some lovely people have asked to send me the odd gift, to avoid us both extra fees (shipping for you and forwarding address fees for me) I have, like many finally set up an Amazon wish list. Some of the breakers have steel coloured pieces inside that are copper. So separate the pieces of the breakers and then run the magnets over them. You’ll be surprised at the copper you’ll pull out.

yes either drill out the rivets on the RCD breakers or hit them along the edge with a roofing hammer. The coiled wire is copper but is wrapped around steel. Use the magnet as some copper coloured parts are steel. I agree, gotta love a fuse board, the older the better= more brass and copper!

Never scrapped circuit breakers, I'm going to have to add a slater's hammer to my shopping list! A wide, shallow angled cold chisel, a 3lb ball pein and a 2-foot pair of wire cutters have been my scrapping buddies for years. I've only been watching you for a month, and you have taught an old dog several new tricks already. Many thanks.

Just a consideration for the low grade boards, get something to grind them up like the refiners did. Then when you go to the refiners with your quality ones you can strap the low quality on the roof of your vehicle. 😄

I wish I had one if those shredders myself or knew someone with one but they are very expensive pieces if kit🙃 The problem isn't the space, it us the weight, they are too heavy and will leave me over loaded unfortunately. What I might do though is market place or ebay them for other micro scrappers who don't get as many opportunities to come across them. Thanks so much for watching and commenting 🙂

My yard pays €1.50 for low grade. I scrap everything that i got and Low Grade is my fuel money 😉. But with the cheap petrol it’s now a bit of the better stuff that pays for fuel 😅

These ones were the ones that were soaking wet in last weeks skip diving video so not safe to sell on but I have learnt that any decent ones are worth selling so I will bare that in mind thanks 🙂👍

Do you not depopulate the low grade boards i take the alum heat sinks plus transformer off plus whatever else I can sell separately then my yard take the boards as either shed or low grade circuit boards

I do and had most of these ones but I've got to that stage now of not having the time to completely do them so I just cherry pick the easy bits off, I also had to leave some good bits on to make it worth going in Irony Ali and not just shred. Before I had a buyer I used to totally depopulate all my boards but don't have to now. I'll still always get the easy copper inductors, some heatsinks if they are not buried and such like and of course still cherry pick mosfets etc too. If my life hadn't turned in the direction it has due to recent tragedies I'd still have a lot more time to completely cherry pick the low grade boards. Having said that with summer holidays coming up I'll have a nice chunk of time to do some of the bits I have to let go when I'm really busy 🙂
