Yes - Roundabout (Live At The Apollo)
Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/YesApollo
In 2016, Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman brought together their incredible talents and long experience of working in Yes to take to the road for a series of concerts celebrating Yes’ musical legacy of the seventies, eighties and nineties. Yes featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman toured first in North America and then brought their live show to the UK in early 2017, including this performance captured at the Manchester Apollo. The band are in superb form in front of a sell-out crowd who are clearly loving every minute of the show which includes classic tracks such as Roundabout, Owner Of A Lonely Heart, And You And I, Hold On, Heart Of The Sunrise, Rhythm Of Love, I’ve Seen All Good People and many more.

as a "kid" i can agree that a large portion of modern music is bad, (ex. payboi carti, drake, taylor swift), but there are absolute geniuses such as Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole in the lyrical sense and Kobo Kanaeru, Hoshimachi Suisei, and ado in the vocal sense.

Whilst the performances of Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman are superb.... the hero of this performance is the bass player. He has captured the spirit of Squire's playing (and vitally singing) and remains humble enough to let the lead players shine... but really he's nailing it in every way, while remaining a 'side-man', which is an incredible balancing act. I really hope ARW, move beyond the main three-guys and embrace these other guys as fully fledged members of Yes and get them involved in the writing of new material. They've seriously earned it. Just my view.

Lee Pomeroy - great player. He had played with ELO (Jeff Lynne's) Friday night in Philly for their last show of the tour, then played on Sunday in L.A. (N. Hollywood) at the Whiskey a Go-Go with Yes (ARW). I've seen him with Steve Hackett many times too. Nice guy in person - on stage, always smiling and bouncing around. Plays guitar, bass, and adds great vocals. I heard him play a bit here that Chis always threw in from one of his bass idols, Larry Graham Jr. (Sly and the Family Stone). 4:09 ish.

Absolutely. Pomeroy has also been the bassist for Steve Hackett, ELO, Rick Wakeman's British Rock Ensemble. And if you've heard his compositions outside of 'Yes' - it's clear to see that he is an incredibly demanding task master. Pomeroy more than adequately fills Chris Squires' shoes.

The bassists name is Lee Pomeroy . You can find this excellent musician playing with Jeff Lynn’s Electric Light Orchestra, Steve Hackett and others, meticulously recreating the “recorded” bass performances of these Hitmakers and their music. He is definitely in the “First Call “ level of guys doing this. I’ve never heard him play a note that shouldn’t have been there.

So great to see the well deserved praise for Lee Pomeroy. Awesome player and even more awesome guy. You can tell he is enjoying the heck out of this gig, though he has worked with Rick previously. As a guy who has seen this tune live somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 times, to the point of beating the rush to the exits to get to the car, I have to say that Trevor has breathed new life into the tune that has been expectedly static for 45+ years.

Hey let's give some credit to the young man on lead guitar that was only 17 years old when this song came out. That should indicate the age gap with these guys. Trevor plays that old stuff like he wrote it. No, I'm not going to compare him with S Howe. No, no, no. But listen closely because there is no comparison. You know who nails it. Trevor is truly a guitar genius & more. Okay, I admit it, I am a Rabin fan. I lost my interest in YES in 1972. I turned 18 and I went to all rock, all the time. Louder is better, still. I became YES fan again with the release of 90125 & I noticed the young new face of their new guitarist and the music and lyrics really captivated me & I felt I could relate to some of the songs. I was a new fan for the Rabin-YES years and I remain a Trevor Rabin fan today. Thank you, Trevor for sharing your gift with the world.

I'll never meet them, of course. I don't understand these rivalries. These people are (among) the best in the world. I just accept each for what they are. This band certainly looks like they are having more fun than the Yes band, and the music is much "fresher.". I'm glad these 3 get along so well. And all of them made it into the Hall of Fame. Too bad Squire passed away before that.

I wish this iteration of Yes had continued on and done studio albums like was originally the plan. I've never fully gotten over the way Howe's Yes treated Jon when he fell ill back in the 2010s--replacing him with a cover band singer and continuing on without him, not bothering to wait until he got better. Having said that, Howe's iteration's new single The Ice Bridge is some of the best new material from the Yes moniker I've heard in many years, so hopefully the Yes legacy can still live on by making relevant music again.

Anderson couldn't handle the rigors of touring, and face it, his new song offerings weren't really "current"-sounding. Howe chose to move on - mistake or not. I'm a huge fan since I was a teen in the early 70s, and with the possible exceptions of Howe and Wakeman, they all should have retired by now. Still, ARW are playing some great music.
