From my earliest days as a YES fan this was the song I had on repeat the most. YES at its positive vibe-giving best. This song & "Turn of the Century" on the same album...Almost too much musical beauty to bear. I'm old enough to remember late night album radio play. Entire YES albums that I didn't have yet. Magical times long past. Luckily, I now have the albums :)

What a gorgeous song! The music that comes out today on the radio is such crap. Then you hear such a magnificent piece like this song "Wondrous Stories" and the mind is blown.🤯 By the way, the song, "Turn of the Century", from the same album, "Going For the One", is undoubtedly THE most beautiful love song ever composed. Bar none. These guys were genuises.

Not 100% sure of year (1977-1978) I lived in Lancaster Pa. Where Clair brothers audio was out of ( provided the sound equipment for their tour ) found out they were rehearsing in a high school gym we went and they let us in.. so amazing especially to see a band stop mid song and talk about something then start up again!!! It was 1976 and I was 16 years old when I saw YES play at the Forum in Inglewood California. This was my first concert. They played this song and the visuals and sounds are seared into my memory. This song is a dream state. It draws you in and holds you. YES definitely belongs in the same sentence as Rush and Led Zeppelin... in fact, as you probably have already heard, Geddy Lee (Rush, bassist) admired Chris Squire (YES, bassist) as a hero and Rush asked to induct YES into the R&R Hall of Fame.

This provided them with rare UK top 10 hit. The guitarist Steve Howe has won Guitar Player magazine's poll for "The Best Overall Guitarist" five times in a row 1977 - 1981. He was the first to be chosen to the magazines Guitar Player Hall of Fame. He also owns a collection of vintage acoustic instruments such as the Portuguese guitar seen in this video. :)

The guitar ending is more about Howe's admiration for the great Wes Montgomery and you can hear the octave playing that Wes was pioneer of in so much of Howe's arsenal of stylings. It's a very spiritual song as is much of the album.

Live video over the studio version of the song. Not that that's a bad thing. Just an FYI. This might seem a bit random. But as a guitarist and a Steve Howe fan it's the 1st time I've seen Steve play that model of guitar (ES-125TCD I think?) That guitar will be 50-60 years old.). And Steve is known for being a big time guitar collector and tone meister. Playing multiple guitars on almost every song.
