WONDEROUS STORIES
I awoke this morning love laid me down by a river.
Drifting I turned on upstream bound for my forgiver.
In the giving of my eyes to see your face.
Sound did silence me leaving no trace.
I beg to leave, to hear your wonderous stories.
Beg to hear your wonderous stories.
He spoke of lands not far or lands they were in his mind.
Of fusion captured high where reason captured his time.
In no time at all he took me to the gate.
In haste I quickly checked the time.
If I was late I had to leave to hear your wonderous stories.
Had to hear your wonderous stories.
Hearing...
Hearing your wonderous stories.
It is no lie I can see deeply into the future.
Imagine everything you're close and were you there to stand
So cautiously at first and then so high.
As he spoke my spirit climbed into the sky.
I bid it to return to hear your wonderous stories.
Return to hear your wonderous stories.
Hearing...

I saw YES in 1979 and it was one of the most memorable performances that I have ever seen. Rick Wakeman was dressed in silver and looked like a mad wizard. Steve Howe was absolutely masterful, Chris Squire was equally masterful and dwarfed his bass, and Jon Anderson broke my heart that night - me being female, I was mesmerized by his voice and the fact that he didn't leap about and cavort as did so many singers of that era. Anderson connected with his audience and gave his voice to them - each of them - as an ethereal and spiritual gift. I fell hopelessly in love and I've loved him ever since. RIP Peter, Chris, and Alan........

Each generation enjoys music differently. I love the easy access now I'm older... but for me nothing beat going round to a friends house when they had just bought a new album, enjoying the music together and pouring over the amazing album designs. Records were expensive back in the 70's... sharing and enjoying in a group was a really happy memory of mine. I just think it's great this music is being listened to by younger people and stands the test of time.

I think it may be more akin to Sufism, perhaps one of the Great Sufi poets like Hafiz, or Rumi. It may even be about Rumi's wandering "Teacher" - Shams of Tabriz. Rick Wakeman originally left Yes for awhile because Anderson's Hindu/Sufi Spirituality conflicted with his Christian Faith.

JFC, there's at least one of you on every freakin' 60s/70s music board, there are plenty of "real" musicians playing today, grampa. You do know you sound exactly like our parents, right? The problem is, you have to look for it, as it's not played on the radio. Today, it seems all we have is Classic Rock, Top 40 (which sucked back in the 60s/70s, too) and the garbage that is rap/hip hop. The latter has is the main reason there is so much bad music out there today. The love of auto tune, drum machines and repetitive sounds/chords/lines shows how little talent there is in that genre of.....recordings....(I loath to call it music), and it's seeped into too many other genres.

I'm so fucking glad that I was born in 1962. I grew up learning to use my brain and surrounded by golden music, among other privileges rarely found in modern life. Thanks for sharing this classic. Je suis si heureux d'être né en 1962. J'ai grandi en apprenant à utiliser mon cerveau et entouré par la musique d'or, entre autres privilèges rarement trouvés dans la vie moderne. This song means a lot to me.. it was the reassurance I needed to hear, that everything was going to be okay, during a time when everything...wasn't. What makes me happy about this, is that people a hundred, two hundred years from now are still going to be able to listen to this, have a connection with it, and still marvel at it. This is our Bach, our Mozart. It's beyond timeless, it's transcendant.

Thank you. And to me, perhaps even more so, "He is Sailing." Which is clearly a description of Heaven. Although Jon Anderson may have been thinking about sun worship, but you can't get those images solely from the sun. It's clearly a description of Heaven.

To the young people that are listening to this for the first time enjoy. And also to you and the people of my future who are enjoying this, My heart goes out to you all for missing out on in my opinion the 1960`s-->1970`s two of the greatest decades for Innovative Music and highly talented and in many cases highly Intellectual musicians who had to work hard from the bottom to achieve what they wanted, unlike the conveyor belt of cloned Simon Cowell show throw away music that has stifled more deserving musicians in favour of regiments of Jelly Baby Boy and Girl Bands.

My very first concert was Yes. I was 8. My parents were fans and I think I was the only kid at that show. This was also my moms favourite song and she played it often. It’s strange having listened to this music so young. It’s ingrained in my soul and hearing it now it’s so loaded with emotion and memories. I’m so glad my parents introduced me to great music.
