Luis Gil continues to impress he's been amazing he just bears down when he gets in trouble and he's not afraid to throw strikes in pressure situations I love that.

I personally like when Boone gets thrown out once in a while. I think it gets the team fired up!

They have to get Stanton out of the middle of the lineup. He's literally keeping this team from scoring chance after chance.

Other than Soto, he’s been the most productive guy with RISP. I know it sucks but he’s the right guy for now. Dominguez might be the answer later on but for now it’ll have to be Stanton there. Js

Unfortunately on specific plays like these, aggressive baserunners need to just head back to the bag immediately. Truthfully if Soto was just standing on the bag, he doesn’t have to move at all in that instance, and it possibly could’ve had the same outcome with him running into Soto and dropping the ball. It’s like when batters in the box and the runner on second tries to steal third….the hitter doesn’t have to move.

Boone threw the Umpire OUT of the game! Umpire is another recent graduate of the Angel Hernandes school of umpiring.

Wouldn't be a bad idea giving Gil some extra time off seeing how they areone of the top two teams in baseball. Would hate to see guys starting to hone in on him with the more reps he takes. Nothing good last forever and sometimes an extra breather can allow him to recenter!

yanks deserve the credit, but the angels did their typical squandering the tying and winning runs on base in bottom 9, no fire in the belly

That interference call on Soto bailed out the angels and felt like it dictated the rest of the game. The runner has a right to return to the bag, right? He tried to get out of the way and the defender misjudged the catch. Terrible call crazy you can’t review cause he was clearly shown he went around where the fielder was originally camped

No the fielder has the right of way when making a play on a batted ball 6.01(a)(10). (Yankee fan here)
@tomearly111
@tomearly111 2 ай бұрын
@@joetheumpire So in this situation it was an automatic double play as soon as the ball was hit. Either Soto stays off the bag and is he is out or he gets back to the bag and is called for interference and he is out. Is there a scenario where he is safe here? It should be the infield fly rule. The batter is out whether the ball is caught or not. The runner can get back to the base and there is no interference because the batter is already out.
@MattManka
@MattManka 2 ай бұрын
@@tomearly111 If he was on the bag during the contact Soto would have been safe. He had time to get there without interfering but was a little too casual about it. The rule as written is bad (in my opinion) since the most common outcome of the infield fly rule is batter out and runners stay.
@YourHignessBcIidentifythatway
@YourHignessBcIidentifythatway 2 ай бұрын
@@MattMankaagreed. In that situation put the aggression and showmanship aside and get back to the bag and just stand there. Dude might’ve still dropped the ball….and Soto would’ve been safe.
@joetheumpire
@joetheumpire 2 ай бұрын
@@tomearly111 No that's not correct. IF soto is standing on the bag and not off in this situation he cannot be called out for INT unless it was an intentional act. I mean it was only mentioned in the video. I gave you the rule reference you should read the whole thing.

All I have to say is if Holmes blows this game for Gil, he should have been DFAed. He needs to be better and right the ship. Must-win game today. The O’s aren’t losing a series to the Angels.
