My theory is that at this time, Kook wasn't entirely aware that he was into Jimin because he was so young and still naive about the world and, hell, he was still a shy baby back then. I think a lot of his reactions to Jimin back then were him trying to figure not only Jimin out, but also himself. Cuz he felt a certain type of way towards Jimin, but had absolutely no idea how to explain what that was. I mean, we're talking about a kid who runs away when he sees a girl. Most likely, he hadn't crushed on anyone before, so the way he was feeling around Jimin was foreign to him. (Sure, Namjoon is the whole reason he auditioned and everything, but that's just baby Kookie looking up to a cool, influential hyung.) And since he was so unsure of his feelings, Jimin's boldness kinda scared him a bit cuz he used to shy away from Jimin and ignore him. I mean, Jimin clearly has like Kook since forever, so... It looks like 2015 is when Kook started realizing that he liked Jimin more than everyone else and realized that he had a crush on him. Judging from his attitude towards Jimin in 2015-2016, he must've accepted his feelings for his mochi hyung quite fast and found the courage to flirt back whenever Jimin would flirt with him. It was during this time that Kook had come out of his shell, anyway, so this is a high possibility. He just wasn't bold enough to initiate the flirting just yet. Maybe some time in 2016. But once he got to that point, he had Jimin going shy cuz his flirting game had become strong. And they clearly had been spending a shit ton of time together which I assume is why Kook was able to figure out his feelings for Jimin in the first place. Basically, as Kook grew (physically, mentally, emotionally) over time and worked out all the time, he became Jimin's protector (as Jimin himself calls him) and began asserting his dominance. (Yes, I do believe that Kook is the dominant one in the ship. He clearly is, despite his submissive beginnings, but he was just a child then.) Honestly, it kinda seems almost like Jimin raised Kook to be his dom and that's why he never pushed for them to get together. Sure, he came on strong in the beginning, but toned it down when he realized that Kook liked him back and basically settled for teaching Kook a lot of things a dom should know/do. Honestly, that kind of intimacy explains a lot of their relationship from 2017 (when I'm positive they got together) til now cuz they just seem to have that kind of relationship, y'know? I'm not really sure how to explain what I'm talking about, but hopefully at least one person understands. Im not sure if I would say he liked jimin back then. More so say that he admired him. Jimin always seemed so confident, smooth and talkative as if he didnt care what other people thought of him .
