This week, I traveled to the beautiful country of Iraq. All my life I'd heard of the war in Iraq and how dangerous it was to visit, but I wanted to go there and explore if for myself to hear the stories that didn't make it into the media. So, along with Drew Binsky, Lexie Alford and Cory Martin, we were taken around Iraqi Kurdistan by our amazing guide, Baderkhan.
Thank you to Lexie Limitless for joining us on this crazy adventure:

"it doesn't matter whether you are Yazeedi, Muslim, or Jewish we all pray to the same God" He was saying this while the three of them had their arms on each other's shoulders pretty much hugging each other...i love seeing things like this that was so wholesome I love to see people from different parts of the world from different cultures showing respect and love to each other that's what it's all about ✌️ mainstream media forces people to think that we're all so different and that we cannot mingle with each other and that of we do we won't get along and that it will be awkward but in reality we're all so similar and can enjoy and respect each other's company and cultures and can even be brothers and sisters
@garymaidman625

Mainstream media is very much on the left side of politics and are so easy to claim racism or any other type of bigotry, yet they deal in identity politics and segregation, which is incredibly bigoted. Identity politics stereotypes people of a certain culture, subculture, lifestyle, etc. People should not be defined by what they are but by who they are. Are there bad people in these cultures? Of course there are. But there are also good people. We should not be ignorant about cultures and ask people of different cultures about their culture. Not only are they happy to talk about their culture, but knowledge removes fear. Ignorance and the unknown is fear. Unfortunately, thanks to mainstream media, we are living in a pandemic of fear.

Hi Yousif, I just want to tell you Iraq is not synonymous with "terrorism and war" for a lot of people in the world. When 9/11 happened I was a little girl. I remember everything of that day and the years that followed. I remember the hate aimed at Arabs, Middle-Easterners and muslims totally uncalled for. I always felt so deeply sorry for the people of Iraq (and Afghanistan) who were victims twice: first of the regimes and then of the war and instability that followed. When I grew up and it came time to choose a university, I chose to study languages, literatures and cultures. One of the languages I chose was Arabic. I wanted to know more about the language and by default about the culture, the history and the people. I never had hate towards Arabs or Iraqi on the contrary I was super curious to know about Iraqis. Since the first images I saw of Baghdad I wanted to go there and visit the place. Now I'm almost done with my degree and I hope I will be able to go there. Sorry for the poem I wrote, lol it's a long winded response to your statement only to say that a lot of people are curious and benevolent towards you

Badar khan's story really touched my heart because I have a similar story to him. I was born and raised in a city called Idlib in northern Syria, you might have heard about it on the news. I had to leave my school, friends and relatives behind at a young age, I was 9 years old. My mum took me and my 4 other siblings and we went to the Turkish border and we met with a guy that will help us smuggle into Turkey because we had Syrian passports but we couldn't get in. So the only way in was to go through fields and it was tough for my mum because she had to carry my younger siblings because they couldn't walk long distances. Then I remember when we got into Turkey, the Turkish people are the most hospitable and caring people you could ever meet, because I remember it was winter time and we had no place to go to or sleep so we just sat in a park and cuddled up to stay warm and we had no food. Then a Turkish man seen us from his house and came over and gave us food and water and we were so grateful for him. Then we went to Ankara airport and took a plane all the way to Manchester airport that is in the UK were we met up with our dad because we haven't seen him for over 4 years because he rarely used to cone home because he used to work in Greece and send the money to my mum back in Syria. And the way my dad came to the UK is way more difficult than the way we came in because he had to cross freezing cold rivers and damped fields at night so he wouldn't get caught then when he got to France he jumped into a loaded truck that had baby milk powder and that almost killed him because it was air seeled and he had little air to breath. But Allah didn't want him to die so when he crossed into the UK the police caught him and took him into the refuge hostel in the UK to have a place and make documents for us to fly from Turkey to Manchester. So when we got to Manchester it felt like it's a new chapter in my life because I knew that I can see my dad everyday and I'm able to live in a safe environment and go to school and complete my education. So when we met my dad in the airport I can still remember this like it's as bright as day light in my memory, I remember we were looking for him then when we recognised him we ran so fast and gave him the biggest hug and kisses then we got a national express bus the the city my dad was in. It's called Liverpool and that's when I went to school, I started in year 5 when I didn't even know a single word of English so wheb students used to speak to me I just nodded my head to them. But now obviously my English is 100% better than what it was 7/8 years ago😂😂. And the 2nd chapter or i should say tye 3rd chapter in our life was when we officially became free because on the 26th october 2019 we had a ceremony at the st georges catgerdial in Liverpool and wr got our British citizenship and that was a really happy time for me and my family because we felt free to travel to places were we couldn't go because we had no passports. All thanks to Allah because he is the one that planned this life for me. Alhamdulillah my family is safe and happy and I'm so grateful for everything that has happened in my life because my studies are going well and currently I'm in my first year of 6th form and I can't wait to see what my future holds for me. Because after 6th form I'm going to university to study Dentistry and hopefully become a dentist. I'm so sorry that this comment was sooo long but if you've read all of it please leave a like so I know that people actually read it. Even though it was a long comment I still have more to say but I'll leave it as it is and I want to thank you again for taking the time out of your day and reading this. I love you and I pray for the best in your future. Peace from 🇸🇾/🇬🇧❤❤

This video keeps me reminded that while we're a diverse species occupying this world, its often that the human spirit shares no boundaries. I was very fortunate to stumble onto this video. You have certainly blessed me, along with the KZfaq community sharing your travels through this country, but more so to share your experiences alongside your guide "BaDakon' ... and please correct my spelling. Thank you so much.,

Yeah but Kurdistan is also completely different from Iraq. Its people, culture, history, and even religion are totally different from that of Iraq (You know there are Kurdistanians who are blond-hair blue-eyed?). Kurdistan is not even supposed to be part of Iraq. Even when it was part of Iraq under Saddam Hussein, it was a self-autonomous region. And UN and the world, in order to appease Iraq just lumped Kurdistan together with Iraq. And when the world imposed sanctions on Iraq, it imposed sanctions on Kurdistan too bringing much misery to its people. It's just that its unfortunate geographic location of being completely surrounded by five countries on all sides, it has been always been a site of war, much to the chagrin of the people there. And the people of Kurdistan have fought very bravely and very hard against the oppression by Saddam Hussein who used chemical warfare, land mines, everything sinister possible to bring Kurdistan under its control. Glad to see Kurdistan is finally enjoying some economic prosperity.
