In this video I am reviewing the Yeswelder Mig 205 welder. This is a multi process welder, so It's capable of MIG, Stick, and DC TIG welding. In this demo, I go over how to set it up to weld in all processes. I was impressed with this machine especially at it's affordable price point.

I bought this machine in April of 2019. I was so impressed I purchased another as a backup that's still in the box. I've been a welder since '95. I started getting outside work a couple years ago from 3 guys (all brothers) for different projects. All of these require a welder that's mobile. My Millers are not something I want to carry around! Since purchasing this it has been rock solid. I live in the southwest desert and our temps are regularly 110 plus degrees in the summer. These jobs were all outside on a dusty, sandy open lot. This guy was on 8 hours a day all week for weeks building 14 foot rolling gates made from 2 inch square tube 1/4 in wall and the tracks they roll on. Ran some long welds while doing the tracks and the welder never kick off. I mostly used stick 7018 and 6011's and flux core. I've put 18 - 10lb rolls of 035 wire through the machine. I didn't add up how many lb's of electrodes but certainly a few hundred pounds through the time I've owned it. I was sure I was going to burn this welder out on these jobs, hence the backup, but nope. It doesn't look pretty any more, other than being pretty beat up. Your right the earlier version of this welder did not accept 2 lb spools. I don't use them so not an issue for me. Also I made new work and stinger leads replacing everything. There the one thing I think could be improved, but until you start paying thousands these are typical. There are no complaints about this welder from me. The millimeter thing is easy enough to figure out once you get familiar with the machine. The mig gun is very good and has taken a lot of abuse without complaint. So for those who are wondering about longevity, I thought I would give you my experience.

Thanks Pete I really appreciate your comment! It’s really nice to hear just how good that welder is holding up for you 👍 It definitely gives me more confidence in the machine after reading how well it’s performed. I had quite a few people mention they own one and also like it. I have had two other people mention that they have had problems with them. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this 👍 Take care

@@2blew4U This machine is not ideal for Tig Aluminum. Yes you probably could get away with it using pure helium, but it would be unfun and expensive. Tig Aluminum is best with an AC TIG machine which Yes welder makes as well.

Great guy, gives great honest reviews and shares not only great projects but so many different skills that everyone appreciates and learns from. He has over 109,000 subscribers on his channel ... this is amazing. he pays for these videos out of pocket and we all enjoy them and benefit for free !!! With that being said. It would be great to see people buying his merchandise to show how much they appreciate it .. I didn’t realize until I posted that he has only sold 4 items. Oooh for sure Mike .. I am new to the channel and was so surprised when I started watching all your videos. I’m really interested in the cross fire pro plasma cnc. My wife was so impressed with it also and loved seeing how you made the grill for the quad truck and cut the fenders for the articulating dump truck. And the limited slip differential, Very slick !! My problem is I’m not the best with computers and wasn’t sure if I could use it effectively. But I have watched several other people use it as well and they all seem to like it. I have a versa cut 60 from Eastwood now. But I’m not sure it will work with the software... I have to research it out. Anyway, I’m sure with the holidays people will be more than willing to buy some of your T-shirt’s and hoodies. Not only to help support you for all your great efforts... but also it’s getting colder and who couldn’t use a hoodie 😊

 @Mike festiva I want to say, you make welding look so easy, I watched the one where you taught your nephew how to weld and was convinced I was buying my own welder. I decided on the yeswelder 205 DS, however, I came back to watch your review and noticed it didn't do Aluminum. I have never welded and I am trying to buy one that will do as much of everthing as possible. For that reason, I still went with YESWELDER, but the 250 PRO SG, the 205 was going to cost me $399 plus Tax and I got the 250 PRO for $486. thats with taxes and shipping. Feel its a better deal since I now have the option to be able to weld Aluminum should I need too. Thank you for your welding videos, keep them coming. I will be reviewing your channel again now that I have a welder to practice my setting and so on.

I own one of these. When running flux core wire the welder defaults to .035 wire setting and there is no adjustment for .030 wire in flux core/gasless mode. You can adjust amps/volts settings when using .030 wire but that’s it. I checked with Yeswelder and they confirmed this. The welder is set at .035 wire for flux core wire size is not adjustable. Just thought I’d share this as originally I thought there was an issue with the welder I purchased when I tried to adjust the wire size button to use .030 flux core wire. 👍
@Mikefestiva
@Mikefestiva 3 жыл бұрын
Thanksgiving for sharing 👍 yes you are right, I think I usually only run .035 flux core wire in the past because it’s basically hollow with flux and I found when welding with flux, it’s a much slower travel speed then it is with solid wire because of the hollow flux wire. Take care 🙂

Hey Michael, I think you did a great review on the welder. I watched your review and several other reviews. You make great videos. I purchased the same welder from this review. Ordered alot of extra expendables plus tig torch, regulator and mig and tig kit. I recieved the welder in a reasonable amount of time, around a week maybe less. I noticed no tig torch and also short on the 45 piece tig weld torch gas weld kit. I sent a message to yes welder and they told me I wouldn't get the torch toll mid january. I got it around the 22nd or so. I had bought this welder expecting to use the tig torch on a Christmas gift for 2 of our grandkids. I ended up using the mig gun and it got the job done. The welder worked great. Now its February 3rd and still no tig torch kit. I sent yeswelder a email letting them know without swearing that their customer service sucks. I like the welder alot, the little bit I have used it. Do me a favor, send this message to yeswelder or have them look it up. If they can afford to give out welders for advertising remind them they should take care of the people who already spent their hard earned money. Thanks really like your channel just a little pissed at yeswelder.

Great review and very comprehensive. i have not tried the Tig welding yet, but I will probably get a torch now after seeing how well it worked for you. I purchased mine a few years ago so I could throw it in the car rather than strain myself with my transformer migs. I am really surprised at how well it works and has held up. I did a job where I was constantly welding 6mm, (1/4") and was running around 180amps on the setting and it never missed a beat. I was running .8mm, (,30") and I actually had it set for co2 instead of Mag, (unknowingly incorrectly at the time), but it welded well. I ran a reel of .9mm (.35") wire for a job using thicker steel, (10mm) and set it to Mag and it ran pretty well. the settings are a bit confusing and the manual does not help much, but customer support were quick to get back to me. I have a 210amp transformer mig and a 350amp transformer mig in my workshop, but the Yeswelder is my go to now for anything 6mm or less.

Watch those Yes Welder gas lenses, I bought the same thing after contaminating some rather expensive Aluminum welds I found that they aren't soldered together so the lens will unscrew from itself allowing outside air to get into shielding gas.

Okay, I just bought one. I look forward to your tig videos. We are noobs here (my oldest kid and me). We took a welding class one semester to just to give it a try last year. We spent most of it stick welding and maybe a third of the time gas welding and only a week of mig. We liked gas welding the best but really wanted to try tig. We have two buckets full of welded coupons to show for it. I would like to .. make.. something. Hope you do some kind of follow along thing with a kit maybe?

Thanks Cody! Yes multi process machines have become quite affordable now 👍 I had used an old Lincoln weld pac 100 for years and it would barely weld1/8”. If I wanted to weld Anything thicker I would have to take it out to my friends shop to weld, I’m happy people like myself can actually afford decent welders now 🙂

I made a arc disconnector for lift tig with a battery isolator. It works with a foot pedal. It stops the arc when you let off the pedal. Does not taper off, it just stops instantly. Dont have to pull away to stop the arc.

Great video man. I work with yeswelder as well, and recently got this same machine into my shop. I don't TIG, but I found the MIG really easy to get up and running. My biggest gripe is exactly the same as yours, that metric thickness setting!

Very suitable that you wore your blue and white shirt to review a blue and white welder. Hopefully that will make the welder feel more at home, and function better. It costs nothing to have the electronics do metric and inch, other than for a 50 cent switch button. The chips used for this have both internally, and there’s room on the front panel. 4T is very useful IF your machine has all the settings it’s used for. Sadly, many do not. I use Pyrex for some purposes too. But guys need to know that if (when) you drop it, unlike ceramic, they WILL break. A tip for those who have problems with lift arc, because not everyone can master it. Have a piece of copper, it can be small, and at least 1/16” thick right near where your weld starts, and lift from that. The tungsten won’t stick to the copper. Then just move it over the quarter inch or so to your starting point.
@Mikefestiva
@Mikefestiva 3 жыл бұрын
Goon Tips Mel 👍 Yes the Pyrex cups are easily cracked if the torch drops on the floor. I have heard about cooper scrap to start on, I have not tried it yet. I was happy with the results on this welder especially at its price point, now it just comes down to how well it holds up over time. Take care and I hope all is well Mel 🙂

I think I'm going to jump on this for the black friday deal. You should make this sticker and sell it. I know I'd buy it. There's a lot of print on demand websites where you could print a sticker or magnet with the info. Thanks for the review. P.S. I'd love a video on welding aluminum with this machine as their website says "Do not weld Aluminum plate" and I see I'm not the only one confused about this.

I just bought this machine about a month ago, and so far so good...no issues whatsoever. I did notice one thing, though (and the same in your video): when I set the thickness to 1/4-inch (6.4mm), the machine display doesn't go higher than 5.1mm.
