At the 100 mile distance, I'm 26 -4. 4 DNF's (did not finish, of 30 official race starts) Plus I ran two 100 miler pandemic fundraiser runs, which I treated like actual races and finished well under 30 hours for each. Not bad, for a 61 years young guy who did no sports in high school and found himself well overweight and with cancer at 42.
Vegan power!!! Huge part of it, as is the minimalist footwear and barefoot running!!

Thanks Brian! It felt good to get that first one for 2023, in spite of training being reduced, the stress of losing a parent/helping the other, etc. First at age 61 too ... felt the same as in my fifties! Encouraging.

So sorry for your loss. That plant-based diet is no doubt helping you keep moving well into your 60s and beyond. Hope it will do the same for me!@@RandyKreill

Big congrats! I am still struggling to finish a 100 myself! Do you have any videos or training tips? Be a great video if you don't have one yet!

Absolutely… I have a playlist on that topic. One video is called Top Ten Tips For an Easy 100 Miler”. That’s a huge topic, could be an entire book or documentary!

Congrats on another 100 milee finish! I wonder how the scrambler compares to the mesa waterproof. I look forward to more reviews and enjoy being updated in your running adventures:)

I will definitely be doing a more in depth review of Scrambler Low. I've not tried Mesa WP yet! And my original Mesas are about half a size too small ... while my Mesa 2's are way too big ... I over-corrected on that with a size 13. Some day I'll get the right size Mesa. Hope that next vid on Scrambler Low includes a Rim To River finisher's buckle. Gonna be a battle.

Interested in how the scrambler low compare to the Mesa trail, which I really like. I've never done 100 milers though!

Always amazed how ppl can run 100miles, so congratulations on that. Just curious about the body glide. Do you apply to the soles of your feet? Does it not make your feet slip and slide all over the place?

Thanks and thanks for watching… that was official finish 26 at 100M. Plus two DIY 100 mile pandemic fundraiser runs! I’ve trained by putting too much glide on and trying not to skip too much! Yes, initially there was some excessive slipping! But it faded away soon enough

You're going to dig those Scrambler Lows! The soles on them are built to eat gravel for breakfast. I really dislike all close-toed shoes, but if I was doing a super long trail run in shoes (I usually wear sandals), it would definitely be in my Xero Scrambler Lows. They really combine the best of the Scrambler Mids and the Mesa Trail IIs. Here's my review of them: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpN_p7Sfz9PUg6s.htmlsi=Bl8gbconrPp_IUYB

Hi Randy. What is your personal experience in sizing ? Would you size down in sandals to have a more perfect fit matching your footsize ? In my running shoes, due to my squared large feet I need like 1.5 to 2cm toe gap up front, even in Xeros. For my 29.6mm feet I use a UK13 shoe In case of xero, that around 31.4mm long. In sandals I think i could go lower like size 46 so I would have only like 1 to 1.2cm of gap, giving me just a little more protection. What do you think ?

Personally I prefer a loose fit for sandals and shoes… I’d go with a big enough size to be comfortable, but not intrusive… too long a sandal or shoe can more easily snag a root or rock.
