yes. those short clips are save in your cloud temporary. so you can grab and save them before they get deleted. but if you have SD card, longer footage will be save and you are able to look at full clips, and they are saved longer.

Each camera is independent camera. So your friend can use it in his home. It will have different wifi.

it is easier with your smartphone app. but it will still work with PC app. you can still add camera using your PC app. but having smartphone app will work best because the camera will alert your phone if something is going on at home when you are not home.

you can view recorded videos on your camera anywhere using your smart phone app.

do you have 5G wifi? i don't think the camera is 5G compatiable. you need to use 2G wifi. be sure to check that first.

the camera is indoor camera. the cameras i have outside are under the shelter so it isn't expose to rain.

Thanks Sam, that is what I was hoping would be the case , but nothing was recorded. How could I troubleshoot this. The SD card is working fine , tested it in my laptop.

Neil Carrick the camera only records when it detects motions. So be sure to turn on the motion detection option ON in the option menu.

You can use two ways. Use the screws or use the sticky pad. It explains int the video of you watch it all the way through.

just use your smart phone app to watch your camera anywhere. i use that all the time.

Loco Local cloud is just an option. You can use it without paying for cloud. I never had to pay for it.

the SDcard writes over it when it's full automatically. so it depends on how big is your SDcard and how much your camera is recording. if you want to save your video for long time, you might want to subscribe to cloud storage.

the camera needs power to function. if you don't plug in the power, it won't work at all.

They have a record facility all the time when a SD card is installed. They also record all the time to the cloud, however, that is a subscription based service. If the camera is stolen, then you'll lose the footage. You can put on motion detection for an indoor camera without the SD card and when you get an alert on your phone, you can record the footage on your phone. I have four of these cameras and they're good. I have one watching my car through the window and it has a SD card in recording constantly. The indoor one I didn't bother with the SD card as if they're in your home, they'll take the camera anyway. The other two cameras aren't set up yet.

it seems like to me your videos are getting erased on you SDCard because it is not big enough. i have 32GB card and i can go back about a week. you can try to get bigger SDCard. i have no problem watching full video from my 6 sec preview for about a week.

i am sure good hack can. but it is difficult. make sure your wifi is secure and you have hard password for your camera app.

i do see some connection issue but not as much... it doesn't bother me too much.. having a good Wifi router and fast internet helps a lot.

have you try to take out the SDcard out of the camera and see whats inside the card? if you haven't manually format the SDcard, all the videos should be there.

no. 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz and two frequencies that wifi uses. 2.4Ghz is the normal widely used frequency.

you need memory card for each camera if you want it to record. if not, you can only watch live stream.

yes. all the videos are recorded in your SDcard by default. when the SDcard is full, it will erase it automatically and record over. so it all depends how big is your SDcard and how much you are recording. if you subscribe to cloud service, it will copy the video from your SDcard to your cloud and do the same according to what kind of service you subscribe to.

The only thing that miss from the typical CCTV system, is live stream 24/7 on an HDMI/VGA cable, so i can’t install a monitor in my house to instant view the situation in anytime.. I hope Yi will make a sort of NVR like Orbi cameras, connected via LAN to the router, where the cameras connect to it wirelessly (so not to your local wifi router) and then it records the footages and show 24/7 live feed on HDMI.

when its says wireless, it is always talking about data transmitting. the video data is transmitted through via wifi connection. power is always separate issue. if you want wireless power, you are talking about battery powered cameras, which can be pretty expensive. and You have constantly replace the battery or charge it. it can be pain in the butt.

other option you have is battery powered camera. battery powered camera is completely wireless. but they are lot more expensive and you have to replace or charge the batter often. bad thing is that you often find yourself forget to replace the battery and the camera doesn't work when you need it.

i played many other home wifi cameras and none of them supports 5Ghz connection. because the range is narrow on 5Ghz then 2Ghz, so you'll get very unstable connection if the camera is far way from the router.

@@SamsCube I live in a city where properties are tiny. It is impossible to get too far from the router. That said, I realized that my router will automatically connect to devices at their preferred connection rate, so I can use these cameras after all. I was worried I'd have to manually force the connection by entering into set up. Thanks for the reply by the way
