Thanks for this review. I got the 12 gauge just yesterday. The only thing I didn't like was the safety indicator, but I just did what you did and drilled a little hole and used red nail polish.Thanks for that tip too!

I got one of these a few years ago because I wanted a lighter shotgun to hunt with. I put a leather tie-on recoil pad on it to make the stock a bit longer. It shoots well. I was surprised at how much I like it. The stock configuration isnt that different from a modern Winchester (comb height, length of pull, etc.), and its super light. I can carry it all day with one hand. It's so light that it doesn't swing well, but I compensate for that by moving my hand up the forearm onto the barrel. That seems to help. I dont mind that it folds up, but I dont use that feature. It's a nice little shotgun for hunting, and it's good to see you enjoying it. Nice video. Thanks.

My first shotgun was a 12 gauge New England Firearms Pardner Single shot break barrel and I definitely had to have a limb saver on the butt stock. The NEF Pardner doesn't fold like the Yildiz but I kinda wish it did.

Reminded me of the baikal single barrel in 78 I had at 18 years old. All you have to do is pull the butt hard into your shoulders and ride the recoil. I once shot 8 Guinea fowl with one shot. They were lining up at the water trough. I had a nice pachmayer rubber butt

The only significant difference between Yildiz and Hatfield shotguns is the quality of the wood. Yildiz uses walnut and I believe the $99 Hatfield is birch or poplar. They are functionally the same.

........I don't know why a single shooter kicks so hard.....years ago I bought a clean H&R 12 ga. used for $60.....even with dove loads it has a lot of recoil....but I love that shotgun. It has a modified choke barrel and it makes an awesome varmint gun if you have free range chickens on the place. I heard a man say "They shoot on one end and kick on the other...."
@jameswoodard4304

The reason they kick so bad is because they are super light weight for how powerful 12ga is. The less weight a gun has the more and faster it moves when shot.

I just completed this modification of the Yildiz 12ga purchased at Academy Sports. I am very pleased with the result. I found that the shot pattern did not change significantly at 20 feet after shortening the barrel to 21 inches. I reshaped the foreshock at the end and where it folds at the hinge. I rounded about 3/8ths off of the heel of the stock as well. I trimmed the break action lever slightly and hogged out the trough that the trigger guard slides into. The result was a weapon that folds into 21 x 7 inches and weighs 2# and 14 ozs. After stripping and refinishing the stock it looks like it came from the factory. I’m thinking about having a leather scabbard/holster made for it. I can’t think of a more cost effective And powerful backpacking weapon. Should you get a Limbsaver recoil pad? Absolutely!

Nice, I did it with my 12 ga Hatfield, but I really like this Yildiz as it is. I can't bring myself to cut it up. It's much lighter than the Hatfield, no doubt yours would be a great pack gun. Midland firearms is now offering a "backpacker" folding 12 ga 18.5" barrel with screw in chokes, but it is a little heavy as compared to the Yildiz. www.shootmidland.com/products/midland-backpack-12-gauge-18-5-barrel

John, Thanks for the review. Still cant find anyone that owns this gun or reviewed. What is your opinion after 11 months? Do you like the hidden hammer/auto cocking? Have you considered cutting it to 20+- in? How is the trigger? Any comments comparing it to the Hatfield?
@JohnCapps
@JohnCapps 6 жыл бұрын
After 11 months I am still very fond of this gun. The quality is superior to the Hatfield. If I had found the Yildiz first, I probably would've never bought the Hatfield. It has a nice trigger pull. The Hatfield's trigger was so stiff from the factory, on a few occasions I pulled the trigger to fire, and nothing happened. I wasn't pulling the trigger hard enough. It was the worst trigger I've experienced on any gun. I'm not really particular to exposed, or internal hammers. I do feel exposed hammers are more safe, because you control weather or not the gun is cocked. With internal hammers you're depending solely on the guns mechanism. I haven't cut the Yildiz barrel. As inexpensive as it is, I think it's too nice a gun to cut up. I have two complaints with the Yildiz. The barrel release trigger also cocks the hammer, sometimes it can be a little stiff. The only other complaint is recoil, due to another feature I love about the shotgun. It's lightweight. I'm a big guy, and don't consider myself recoil sensitive, but damn it kicks. I am planning a video comparing the Hatfield, and Yildiz.

John, Thanks for the review and the reply. I picked up this same Turkey made gun in a little different finish; TRS STALKER 12G, came with 20" and nice finish and engraving. You are correct it will thump you. Added a limb saver, huge difference. I only shoot low recoil ammo, it is amazing how much better the pattern of 9 pellet from low recoil is @ 20 to 30 ft. Love this little 12ga. The low recoil makes it a very manageable 12ga.

@JohnCapps
@JohnCapps 6 жыл бұрын
William Henry the quality of the Yildiz is much better than the Hatfield. Yildiz trigger is very nice, breaking at 5 1/2 pounds. The Hatfield maxed out the trigger pull scale at 8 pounds, and still needed more to break. I started my sons young(and still have a couple more to teach) . Each has their own personality. You’ll know when they’re ready.

Thank you for the quick reply John Capps. That trigger pull might be the deciding factor but gosh Wally world still is selling the Hatfield for $99...what a deal. I might hold and wait for Labor Day or Black Friday to get the Yildiz TK12 20 gauge. I just picked up the Yildiz 410 single shot of which I cant wait to hit the range. William Henry Nice! I thought of you earlier today when I was in Academy, and saw they were on sale. I was tempted to buy another one. Be ready for some recoil. A comparison video between the two is on my to do list. Keep me posted, and thanks for the sub.

Finally! After a few weeks of being on the road for business I finally got the opportunity this weekend to try out my Yildiz TK-12 and TK-36 at my local clay shooting range. Man! I had a blast...shot close to 100 rounds between the two after rifle shooting. I would have stayed longer but its really hot here in FL this weekend (more than normal). You were right...TK-12 has some recoil. I got my licks in then finally opted to install Allen recoil pad which I had ready available. Some relief but it looks like I have to work on my stance to improve my form. Other than that, the trigger was smooth and no problem with the trigger break action (i did oil it good and worked the break action for days). TK-36 .410 bore was a dream...no comparison with recoil but really...its not fair to compare it to a 12 gauge. i really enjoyed shooting this shotgun. No effort. It will be easy to teach my wife and young boys to use a shotgun with the TK-36. Overall, I am glad I have these two shotguns in my collection. Once again, THANK YOU for the review on each shotgun as it helped overall. No regrets. I'll keep you posted on my next trips to the range. All the best.

Yeah you need a Sims Limbsaver recoil pad on it to reduce that harsh recoil !!! I hate to laugh but try 25 consecutive shots which is a round of skeet with that gun and see what think because I did back in the early 90's and damn my right shoulder was purple bruised and sore for at least 5 days !!! Well fast forward to now 2018 I got one of those limbsavers on my H&R 12ga. shotgun 28in. barrel and it feels a lot better !!!!
