If the most technically conscious and proficient violist recorded his seldomly heard masterpiece today, the (probable) AI and the (potential) aliens would still know that we were wrong to not have listened, and KZfaq was wrong to have not recommended that we do so.

@@diyreef From your statement, I can understand that you agree with me, besides Max being better than John Petrucci... Considering that Max was born in 2004, and considering that he can play very complex pieces from basically the greatest Guitar players that we all know without any effort, I really believe that, perhaps he is not better than Petrucci, but he is already at his level. Now....I listen to Dream Theater since 1989, and I know you will agree with me, that out dear John is not as good now, as he was on "awake" or "scenes from a Memory". That being said...have you listen to some of short Max compositions? They are amazing, plenty of different styles, plus his unique touch. All of this at 26 years old. If we honest and not bias, only two Guitarists from the past come to mind with this much talent, and those are Shawn Lane (untouchable) and the unique Jason Becker. The first sadly died to soon, and about the second one....well....only God knows what Jason could do now if he was still able to touch that Carvin. But I really think that would be another dimension of playing Guitar. I have so many Guitarists in my personal list of favorite, I am not closed minded trust me, but the greatest being (in my opinion) Andres Segovja, right after him there are Shawn Lane, Jason Becker, now, Max Ostro, Paul Gilbert, BUCKETHEAD, Yngwie J Malmsteen, John Petrucci.......and so on. But at the end of this story, each one of us has his own opinion, and I firmly respect that. Take care my friend, really, I wish you the best. Fell free to think that I'm an asshole.....

He said in an interview a few days ago that he is 17, has been playing for 4 years and practice 12-14 per day.

@@chrisb2535 I was stunned also. I'm from Serbia and interview is in Russian, so I'm pretty sure I understood correctly. Anyway, last year The Guitar World magazine elected Serbian guitar player Igor Paspalj as the best electric guitar player in the world, and he said he used to practice 8-10 hours per day first 10 yrs 'till he learned to play properly'...he added also that he thinks that talent is only 5%, the rest is practice. Check him out, amazing technique, especially the right hand.

..And at the end, it comes up that he's still only 14 yrs old..!!

Ibanez already did it, come bro this kid it's a genius, is focus and he has a bright future, he developed a taste on the playing beyond the style, he should listened various artist to develop this taste on music

Yep and his ear... You've gotta be able deeply hear and appreciate this music to be able to interpret/play like this. It's way beyond what any 15yo I've ever seen.

Also I think there are many kids nowadays with this much skill but on computer games. If only they could be equally as interested in studying great music.

I actually believe he is an intelligent guy as well, if he figured out his taste all by himself. He understands phrasing well, this is something that mostly developes later in life when somebody matures musically they start to understand the smaller nuances by other players and also how to implement it into their own playing. Also that he seems to take in different styles. Many kids and teens are very selective which kind of keeps them from expanding their musical capabilities.
