Yngwie is such a humble guy! =) Recorded on Swedish television TV3, around 1996. Originally recorded on VHS in PAL 4:3 format, converted and cropped to 16:9, 720p.

Whenever you’re on top , jealous people want to take you down, Yngwie is great and his music will live on even after he’s gone , he will do as he pleases and doesn’t care what people say negative about him..great guitarist and artist

Thank you it's nice to see another whom feels the same as I do. I've said so may times that I get tried of repeating myself. Jealousy and Hatred for all he has done are big factors. The masses say the same thing over and over again. Yngwie has done a lot and doesn't have to Justify himself. He speaks his mind and doesn't care what anyone thinks. I for Love him for it because one thing is he's never boring you never know what he's going to say. Yes He a true Original and that's the way I like it.

That is a racist generalization. There are all types of Swedish people today. Also, interesting that YJM toured the totalitarian hellhole that was the Soviet Union.

Always in a good mood... mm. Idk. Great player. Very different. Still just a human being like everyone else. If someone starts very young on an instrument, by the time they're 16 they're already shredding. So that's all good. I hear way more rock than classical in his style. You know I had all his recordings up to like Seventh Sign. I would just buy it immediately. I saw him live once when he played no rhythm. Just leads. I think sometimes he wasn't sure which song he was playing. No vocals. You know he's a person. Ups and downs. Lots of absolutely top-quality music. No one can take that away.

How is his Swedish in this video? I know it hadn't been more than 20 years since he left Sweden, but is there any American influence on his pronunciation? Like Arnold and Lars Ulrich whose native tongue is German and Danish, respectively
@TheMack Жыл бұрын
That's an interesting question. There is not a hint of American accent in his Swedish. The only influence are a couple of small "Swenglish" words and sentences. When he says "I have never had a headache" he translates that literally, although the sentence is built slightly different in the Swedish language. In Swedish you would ommit the "a" and say "I have never had headache"

He speaks with a lot of slang, quite sloppily, like I imagine a young cool guy from 80's Stockholm would sound like when speaking with his friends. Very casual. He sounds completely Swedish though, not like Dolph back in the days.

There used to be a huge stigma in Sweden associated with getting exuberantly rich from things like music, sports and acting. The media was pretty brutal when interviewing or portraying the most successful Swedish stars and often focused on the economic aspects of their careers more than anything else. This view has changed quite a bit in recent decades in my estimation.

0:47 - not to dredge up AGAIN how to pronounce 'Yngwie' :) But, this presenter doesn't pronounce it like we're told too ..and HE is Swedish. That must be one tricky language ;-) 6:27 - is the presenter subtly taking the Mickey with the fitness/basketball/tennis courts? :) We can all see this was Yngwie in his 'Mountain / Leslie West' phase.
@TheMack3 жыл бұрын
0:47 - You're right, we have been told, by Yngwie, that it should be pronounced sort of like "Yngvey". In Swedish the name would actually be spelled "Yngve" and pronounced with a short "e" without the "ey" part, so the the presenter is trying to do like a "swenglish" variant of it =) 6:27 - ha ha, I've never thought of that, but obviously the tennis court looks like a deserted island, maybe he could do a few sets out there. It would be nice to actually see him play tennis =)
