He is still a virtuoso and one of the greatest pioneers who created some of the most incredible pieces ever composed for guitar. He has no reason to change anything for anyone. He has given us tons of cherished treasures to enjoy and inspire us for multiple lifetimes. He is just a guy with immense talent....dont take him too seriously. He rose to fame at a very young age and shook up the entire guitar community when he emerged. I think that alot of folks dont understand him or his humor. He seems like a nice guy these days. All genius types have their tantrums once in a while-expect it. They are also not big into collaborations. I had the same reaction to his first solo album as I did Van Halen 1--OMG!!! Check out his performance with the Tokyo Philharmonic orchestra. I played it for some master pianists and highly degreed performers and it blew them away. That performance truly defines his composition and performance genius. Let's celebrate him and be grateful that he is still touring and still with us. If he bothers anyone--just tune into another artist. He has proven his talents many many times over. Just enjoy him. Peace.

wonderful theater! better than the circus, really (you don't smell the elephant poop) not much in the way of good music though, unless you like the sound of a firetruck that needs to pee badly.

I do love the material and song format solos from Alcatraz. I also love that he completely enjoys what he’s doing very successfully. His blues rock playing is still absolutely kick ass 40 years later and his neo classical playing is as great as ever. His new KZfaq channel shows a more down to earth side as he cuts back on his partying. God bless him.

Yeah Yngwie still has insane technical ability. Some people may not like his songwriting but he can play things with his eyes closed that are impossible for most guitarists sitting down staring at the fretboard. Badass!

Only for those who never sit down and practice. It's not unattainable at all. And that fact makes it even more ridiculous to me that his ego is so inflated. There's lots of KZfaq guitarists who play exactly like him.

@@chrisking6695 key point being theres a lot of youtube guitarist playing what HE WROTE. I agree, everyone can play yngwie (or anybody else) music with enough practice, writing is completly different. And he wrote guitar changing music in his 20s. He's a legend and changed guitar music. He can't bc playing fast scales is all he can do. It's definitely something you should be able to do as a guitarist but when it comes to making music you should have it take a back seat and play stuff that's musical.

I get all the hate when it comes to Yngwie, but you have to understand something. He lives in the Spinal Tap metaverse. He is no different than so many pretentious egomaniacs out there, except he embraces his "greatness"- I don't think any of this is lost on him as he's gotten older. Hollywood is full of people that try to hide their narcissistic ways to some extent. Yngwie is a caricature of what these people really think deep down. By most accounts Yngwie is a bit more humble when he isn't putting on "the show"- as there are a lot of more down to earth musicians that like the guy nowadays. But I also think it's impossible for him to feel mortal as he's been put on a pedestal almost his entire life. In all reality the guy is harmless- I think everyone just needs to relax and enjoy the show. And by that I mean you have to look at more than just the musical performance. If you watch the video of him doing the interview at his house where he has all of those super valuable Strats just sitting in piles and piles- I think you learn to appreciate Yngwie for what he brings to the table.
@chrisking6695
@chrisking6695 2 жыл бұрын
Total BS. Jeff Loomis plays like him and I'd say even better because she's more musical and he is a super nice and humble guy. And there's many actors in Hollywood who can't stand that narcissist BS and try to stay out of the spot light.
@mcdingus5081
@mcdingus5081 2 жыл бұрын
@@chrisking6695 Hollywood, and the LA area in general is full of narcissists- if you can't see it you are one too. Obviously there are exceptions- but the ratio is extremely high in favor of the people delusional to their superiority over the common man. Jeff Loomis is not 100% classical based- he is far more technical and progressive in his style. It's not a competition, Jeff Loomis doesn't have the personality to be Yngwie- and he never had the spotlight quite like Yngwie did. He's just a humble kid that came from Wisconsin. Yngwie is a legend for being a guy that fancies himself a legend. It's fun to watch, no matter what you think. Sometimes it's not worth it to be bitter at people for just being characters. Yngwie is one of the harmless ones. It's like Elvis- who could have taken his later years so seriously?- yet there he was wearing those outrageous jumpsuits and parading around like he was Jesus reincarnated with his FBI badge and gun. I find a lot of humor in that, it's great.

Excellent post I have been to a guitar clinic with Yngwie Malmsteen and close up he is even more mind blowing technically than at a normal audience level. That said he will never come anywhere near to my lifelong hero Ritchie Blackmore as he has never properly embraced a group situation . Totally narcissistic and with an out of control ego. Shame as he could offer so much to a top Hard Rock band and still be able to show off his obvious ability

Seen this lineup in Nov 2021 and they smoked. Yngwie is so easily misunderstood. His drive, focus, and desire to play his music is uncompromising. Once you see that he becomes the Maestro of the 21st century. His ability to not change is his strength. He is so unbelievably talented and it makes him happy. That’s why I have been a fan for nearly 40 years.

Sgt Grinch, Ok...so,.. you see yourself as... like an yngwie whisperer. Like the soup nazi who suffers for his soup. Since I see him as lost in the 80s and just playing the same arpeggio sweep picking to the same beat the last 40+ years, Could you ask him why none of the red or green "ON" lights are on in that ridiculous collection of amp head boxes (with the chassis removed) Most of the pros leave the red light powered by a 9 volt battery since the 4x12 cabinets are empty as well. Behind that stack of empty boxes is likely a small Peavey 15 watt 1x10 with a mic in front of it. But, hey before you ask him, better grab some napkins. There's something very unsightly on your chin. Easily misunderstood...indeed. Good day sir.

Yngwie in my top 10 overall, but even though you can practice 24/7 to be the best in some aspects, pure creativity and songwriting is something that comes naturally, an inherent gift. There are not 25 hours in a day to be able to learn both equally, thus we have here, the fastest guitarist on the planet.

Every show he seems to bitch about lights or some sound issue or bitches about his band, makes them stand in the corner and play with no emotion, berates his roadie...Whereas you see Satriani or Johnson or Vai Or Gilbert or Bumblefoot or Mike Keneally and they don't act like that...

Dear, oh dear. I suppose I’m a fan, but that’s atrocious. Get Joe Lynn Tuna Fish back on vocals quick!
