Yo La Tengo interviewed in 1997 in promotion of their album I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One. This show they are appearing on was short-lived but fantastic.

Yo La Tengo should be pushed more as great examples of musicians/artists who were late bloomers, individually driven, and reaching great heights in talents later in age (today's culture glorifies youth, not age for this. Ira's 40 here). They don't make music making a rat race but a thing some people do. A beautiful band.

I can't believe Kaplan is 40 here, he looks like he could be literally 22

Host: So what's the story behind your name? Ira: We'd rather leave it a mystery. Host: OK, then allow me to kill the mystery and trounce upon your wishes by telling people the story behind your name. WHAT A BONEHEAD MOVE.

The host is so passive aggressive! He has this weird way of sprinkling gratuitously rude little comments into the standard morning television anchor shtick. "That's not terribly responsive!" "The torture is over!" Also I love how he seems to have completely misunderstood their record ("There's a sort of spookiness in this album"...???)
