You are an art engineer! I have my mom's beautiful tree bark base with a built in lamp from the 70's. We stripped the leaves years ago.I was going to get palm leaves, but now.....I am going to try the feathers. It will be Fabulous now!!!!!

For combing/ brushing out the yarn I recommend using a pet brush especially if you want to fluff the ends faster and maybe get them more fluffy. Just be gentle ☺️ Awesome project tho ❤️

There are ostrich farms just as there are farms for other animals we use. I don't know if the ostrich must be killed when harvesting their feathers, but I know their meat is consumed and not discarded.

This is great. Another choice instead of the contact paper rolls, for those who don't have it, would be to use the tiki torch from dollar tree. All you would have to do is cut the torch part off.

I love that you recommend the "nicer" materials (floral tape, wider lampshade) but work with what you have available. I often do DIYs with what I happen to have on hand, so it's nice to see how your finished piece still turns out beautiful even when you didn't necessarily have the perfect materials on hand.

Love the DIY ostrich feathers! What a wonderful technique. I imagine spraying it with hairspray at the stem would make them have more strength to make them stand out even more! Almost similar to how you would use hairspray and teasing to add volume to hair

People don’t know that it’s actually illegal to collect, buy, and sell bird feathers. Now you’re seeing “vegan feathers,” 😉 I macrame and made some, but none of the ones I’ve seen are as beautiful as yours. I made a Tree of Life dream catcher and wanted a few feathers included in the fringe, this is perfect and much easier to attach to my work. Beautiful!

The solution is to clean them with a little talcum powder. You put a little talc you wait a few minutes then shaking you drop the talc that has hung most of the dust.
