Learn to reside in the role of the observer and hop on the mat for this special Yoga Belly practice!
Our relationship to our belly needs some love, it needs some real work. It’s going to take us being brave enough, kind enough, bold enough to slip back into the role of the observer to notice our thoughts and words and how they make us feel.
Everyone is talking about Yoga Booty, but why are we not talking about Yoga Belly??
In this practice, take some time to connect to your center by breathing into and sending loving awareness to this very important area of the body.
Ring out the internal organs with some gentle twisting and elongate the front body.
Lower stress levels and reduce blood pressure with deep, diaphragmatic breathing, also known as belly breathing.
This practice serves as an invitation to check in and see how your thoughts about your body, specifically the belly, make you feel.
Does your relationship to your belly need a little (or a lot) of love?
Let me know about your experience with this practice in the comment section down below!

Hi Brownie Bakes! Yoga Belly is prenatal friendly! In general, most women are able to continue a regular practice through month eight if they avoid twists below the neck, core activation and anything on the belly. Most will find they will know when something isn't right. Hip openers are good but go easier in third trimester. Modify core breaks with reclined cobbler's pose, modify belly stuff with child's pose or yogi's squat and modify standing twists with wide-legged forward fold. xx

Wow! This is true self love right here. Did one of Adriene's core strengthening yoga videos last night and boy that was well worth it, well, given the sweet fact that I got to sleep like a rock. I am so fortunate to have found myself such a powerful, impactful, loving, and funny mentor such as Adriene. Who said guys can't do yoga? I began practicing with Adriene when I was 16, i'm now 19 and you've been really helping me combat my cerebral palsey and find that I am worthy of what I desire to have. I sincerely thank you for being the pal I never had to pat me on the shoulder when I need it. Much love. Namaste.

When I first started doing yoga it was just another way to punish myself. Lose weight. Get toned. Achieve something. And that is how it stayed for many years - and I wondered why I was never able to cultivate a daily practice. I can't overstate how much deeper Adriene's classes go and how much they've changed the way I think about and approach yoga! This one is a prime example.

Thank you for sharing! I had a similar start a few years ago (I had lower back sciatic pain), so inevitably anytime I went to go onto the mat- I was in pain. I couldn't get comfortable or find my breath; I felt like it was useless. But, then I found Adriene's page and never looked back!! Present day, I feel like a rubber band and can't remember what that pain was even like! I never in a million years thought that 'fixing my injury' was done by strengthening the area that was in pain and bring that deep breath to alleviate the issue. Namaste

It’s a belly that’s full of love and joy and compassion and is strong and supports me as a move throughout life. This practice with all of its detoxifying twits was perfectly timed for me as i’ve been dealing with a bit of indigestion this morning so i feel wonderfully releaved and relaxed now in my pelvic floor and gut. What a note to end on hey😂! That’s the reality of yoga though isn’t it really - it does get the intestines moving! Namaste friends🙏. Back to that opposing yogic belly breathing today. I still find it difficult not to expand my lungs, as I do every day as I breathe deeply through my practices. But I find it does a very calming effect as we focus on it. Again, I’m loving that Sphinx and Puppy Posture flexing my spine, so good for us senior yogis 😃👍 The core work I do and enjoy so much meant that the Forearm Plank was no problem but for some reason my arthritis wouldn’t allow me to do the one legged balance on the right today and grab my ankle 😐😯 but my left leg was ok. I achieved an acceptable ballet posture 😉 It was a bit of challenge today but all done 🙏 see you tomorrow on the mat 🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏻‍♀️🙏💕

Shift our thinking into the role of an observer, in that way we will know how blessed we are in the eyes of others and that when we will know we are enough. I honestly couldn't comprehend what does Adriene means when she said "be in the role of an observer " the first time I heard her say that, until I give it meaning for myself, and I would like to share this with you maybe some of us needs this way of thinking we just need to be reminded. And when I first started, I came into it simply to try to get that "thin yoga body". I've been in recovery from an eating disorder and struggled for a very long time. I had awful gripping crying fit today caused by growing existential crisis... These thoughts have bugged me for a long time. I have simply been trying to manage, survive from day to day and trying my best to make progress as a person. I am glad I have been able to follow Adriene's yoga calendar for longer than one month, I have been doing daily yoga almost all year this year, with some weeks of pause in between. I am proud of that, and happy to see mental and physical changes. Still, I'm not happy how I'm leading my life, being alone, keeping to myself and not actively trying to LIVE. I just let the time pass by, but I feel I'm wasting life, having a meaningless job where I spend most of my days, and spending the little free time I have alone in my home. I have come to realize I want myself and my situation to change, but for too long I have been afraid to act or make decisions, I feel stuck! In all this, I am happy for yoga for grounding and calming me down, helping me love and accept myself as I am, with the belly and all the insecurities, and today's session helped me stop the crying and try to think of my situation more kindly. I need to trust my instincts and act despite the fear of unknown future if I want change... I love how yoga teaches me to find the balance between acceptance and effort! I hope I can take these lessons into my everyday life and be less anxious abt my situation and instead, try to make changes and put more effort without letting life overwhelm me. Idk what is this comment, I'm just glad I have found at least one thing in life that helps me stay sane and helped me grow as a person even a little, and that is yoga with Adriene 🥺❤️

Back to the calendar today after some of my fitness favourites. This practice is slow and powerful. Half way through the belly breathing I had to adjust from cross legged onto the knees for senior yogi comfort. I felt quite zenned out after that ! I loved that transition from Puppy Posture to Sphinx Pose. What an awesome feeling in the whole body, sort of graceful and proud, so beneficial 👌 The one legged balancing at the end is not wise for my arthritis feet, so I used my time to belly breathe through some Yoga for the Feet👍 wow what a strong practice that was ? I felt really angry and frustrated at the beginning with all the breathing. I was like 'c'mon let's get doing some demanding work to get that belly working' - I guess that kinda explains the relationship I have with my belly. Beautiful practice but has certainly highlighted that I do need to show myself a little more love.

You might benefit from quieting the mind chatter with meditation. Breathing isn't a waste of time is practically the backbone of yoga. Breathing is prana. Breathing is life into your body. Hope you were feeling less frustrated after the video ended my friend.

Day 21 of Power! Honestly I am so grateful for your monthly yoga calendars. They have really helped me make yoga a regular practise in my life due to them making it so much easier to get a video going each day and as a sixteen year old, I am very glad to be doing this self-love journey fairly early on in my life - Thank you so much Adriene! x

This sequence was one of the best yoga experiences i've had. Doing it on a monday night, a new moon. Your instructions are spot-on, in such a way that I can feel the benefits of yoga practice with each pose, each stretch, making adjustments and going through mental checklists. Everything here has a nice flow to it. I would recommend this video to someone who thinks yoga is only an exercise or series of stretches. Keep going and you feel the spiritual essence of the practice. 173 days

Today I am just feeling so thankful for these videos Adriene. I don't have the money to pay for yoga lessons or to go to the gym for yoga, so your free videos have been my main yoga education. I started out with yoga following along with your lessons. Then at one point I discovered my inner guru who started teaching me to "find what feels good" for myself, to take on poses just for that exact moment or special sort of tension. I remember the first time I did this... I was doing one of your videos where you don't talk and invite us to do our own flow. This was such an emotional moment. There is a lot of pain in our bellies, and a lot of it is due to insecurities and self-criticism. I started to let some of that go and after that something changed. Gradually I awoke to guidance. Your videos have been a huge stepping stone for me on my spiritual path and for this I want to thank you again, as I have done already many times in the past. You are just great and I hope you and Benji are well.

Blossom Feb 2022 Day 2 : Stepped on the mat this evening, tired and hungry. The initial part with the breathing was mentally challenging as I struggled to sit still and focus on my breath. After that, the practice went by smoothly and I enjoyed the transitions, especially the dancer's pose. Coming off Move, I love how talkative Adriene is in this video, cracking jokes and explaining the aspects of belly breathing to the beginners. Love hearing her voice! Congratulations y'all, we got our Yoga Belly! Keep going :) See you tomorrow on the mat. Namaste.

Dear Adriene, you are so magical. Today I have a terrible flu. As I took a bit of paracetamol, my stomach was hurting quite a lot. My back was also hurting as I stayed in bed for a while this morning. I thought “I am sure Adriene has a video for me, I am sure she made a video for the belly”. And here it was. The perfect video. I need it so much. I feel so much better now. My belly is awake now, he is grateful. And my back is not sore anymore. I am so happy I took the energy to hop on my Yoga Mat even feeling so sick. You are better than any medicine. Thank you for taking care of us, for being you, for sharing all your beautiful knowledge. 🙏 I do my yoga everyday with you since January 2019. You saved me from so many troubles. THANK YOU, BENJI and of course ALL YOUR TEAM. ❤️✨

My belly is large soft and surrounds my middle like an inflatable ring when I bend in the middle. But do you know what? This belly has carried two beautiful babies, it has silver stretch marks as badges of honour for what I've put it through and today, thanks to you Adriene, I finally love my belly. And a secret only those with bellies like mine will know - it rises and falls majestically with yoga belly breathing! Thank you Adriene.

Hey Adreine , I have my fair share of medical problems and I've always known that the key to coping with these issues is a positive attitude, and to truly be kind to yourself. Anyways, you Adreine, have been a huge help for me, and I just wanted to let you know that what you do changes lives and makes them better. You've certainly helped change mine, and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, not to get mushy or anything. Your a genuinely kind and compassionate person in a world where you don't get to see that very often.

This is one of my favorites. The heat of the summer is now met with the rainy season which started today. Somehow, the sound of the rain distracts from the heat. However, this is the one practice that reminds me that I have hernia mesh inside for nearly a quarter century. I did not feel any bolts today but I did feel the broad surface of the mesh. Ah, whatever. Everyone else, enjoy! Keep your screen in front of you. I tend to have it on the side and always start to turn and wobble if I look during any one-legged poses! Process day 3. 272 days in a row.

Day 3:Progress I like how this session was calmer. So far, I enjoy how I feel connected with my body. I don't feel pressured or conscious about the time. My body was sore from the strain the past two days (when I started doing yoga/following the schedule) but it didn't feel like a deterrent. I'm amazed at how this channel makes me feel comfortable and taken care of. 😘

I’m so used to expanding my lungs to breathe really deep in my yoga that this seems kinda strange but I inned for four and outed for six. Blessed Beloved Beauties! I absolutely adore Spark Day -5. I am making it up on Day-6. I was, so exhausted yesterday and while I did practice yoga I didn't get around to this session. Today was perfect. I tried something different on my cardio day and weight trained 💪🏾 after calisthenics, then ran at the top of the day. 🏃🏿‍♀️ I think I like doing my yoga in the evenings on my long workout days. I feel centered after this practice thus the core being the focus. I'm interested in reading my first experience of this session to witness some growth. I feel amazing and I'm ready to study today's session of the spark journey along with more studies from my other yoga instructor. Best wishes everyone! Namaste and Ase! 🦋♥️🦋
