So true. Australia here - and still remember getting goosebumps watching her performance. I could not believe what a FLAWLESS live performance it was - like beyond perfection. Even better than the studio version, which is still amazing. Rare for a live performance to actually be that good. I so wanted this to win, but like you said, it was such a rare year.

Yay, I'm not alone! :D No, but really: I've found his song irritating from day one. It's annoying because it feels like a song I _should_ like, but there's something about the way he sings that just gets on my nerves. It's eight years later and I'm still sad that this song didn't win.

but let's be real.. Iceland wouldnt have been able to host the competition in 2010. they should have won in 2012 or 2016 though.

rollX yes, 2009 Norway's, Azerbaijan's, Turkey's, United Kingdom's and Estonia's entries were very strong on that year.

She also could have won in 2010. This is far superior than Satellite both in terms of song and vocal performance. I don't know if I am in the minority, but I am of the opinion that Satellite is quite a mediocre song, Lena can't sing to save her life and her accent, enunciation, or whatever is very annoying.

Fairytale was better but this song is also perfect, 2009 was the best year ever

@@arnibararson I know in Iceland it is spelt with a J. In Ukraine, there is no J, so Julia is Юлія which is pronounced in Ukraine as Ulia. In Ukraine, again as there is no J, Johanna is spelt Йоганна and pronounced as Yohanna. If you look up Johanna on google search, you get the meaning of the name, Johanna, on wikipedia, and as a baby name and people named Johanna, but nowhere does it show an Icelandic singer. However, if you look up Yohanna, it comes with picture of her, a wikipedia site, a list of KZfaq videos and various sites all of which are about Yohanna. So pardon me for spelling it the same as the rest of the world.

@@arnibararson There is definitely a difference. I looked up Yohanna on Spotify and Yohanna Seifu comes up as the top result, with her picture and 4 songs, 2 by Seifu and 2 by different artist. Yohanna shows up on the artist line with her picture and just says "artist." If I didn't know what she looked like, I would have passed it by. When I looked her up under Johanna, Johann Sebastian Bach comes up , with his picture, and underneath, it features 4 of his songs. Beside his picture are 4 songs, that are by 4 different artist, whose song titles were Johanna. Johanna does not come up at all. WOW! My apology.
