Singdam won on muay Thai scoring rules i completely agree but in terms of raw fighting ability the white guy should have won but this still is a sport afterall. I feel like singdam merely exploited the rules instead of being the better fighter

Laughy Dawg lol that’s a rather asinine comment bud there are scoring criteria for every sport. How exactly did Singdam “exploit” the rules? Do you not understand that there’s a reason why Thai fighters fight in a slightly different style to westerners? Singdam like many othe Thais, has been taught from childhood to favour certain techniques (like body kicks) over other techniques (like punches). This means the style that he naturally fights in, lends itself to Muay Thai scoring. Thousands of Thai boxers start k1 fighting in the hope of more money, but have to get to grips with no clinching, no catching and all strikes being valued differently. Thousands fail to transition to kickboxing because the rules unfairly value a punch the same as a knee etc. This means that everything the Thai fighter has learned puts him at a disadvantage against someone who learned k1 as their first sport. Would you tell a k1 or glory fighter that he’s exploiting the rules because he fights in the manner that he’s been trained to his whole life?

Absolutely!! Just watch the first round, Craig is being kicked directly to the body over and over and doesn’t do much to stop them. He’s trying to counter with his hands but is clearly struggling to do so. While Craig is trying to walk Singdam down, he’s giving away a lot of points. I think the decision was fair.

@@davydtaylor4151 You dont understand my comment. This IS a fight afterall but the rules dont always favour the better fighter. Thai fighters are trained that way since young as a way to earn more points and win as a sport, but not as a way to fight more effectively. Thats why many thai fighters cannot make the transition to MMA because MMA is closer to pure fighting where the rules actually favour the better fighter instead of the better point scorer. However looking back at this fight, i completely agree singdam was better after seeing that craig was throwing so many punches and putting on pressure, but many of the punches missed or were negated. Still, i dislike the fact that certain techniques score more than the rest. Its completely logical to train that way as a sport, but i love muay thai as a fighting art. I dont want to "score more points" and win a match, i want to beat someone up in a way mother nature meant a fight to be. So i feel like thai fighters would be much better with improved punches and strategy. Alot of them have great fight IQ but is wasted by being trained to greatly favour kicking and kneeing. If they learn how to use their hands effectively and actually bother to use strategies instead of merely kicking more and scoring more, their effectiveness outside the ring and outside muay thai would be astronomically higher. Fighters like petch the current glory champion, rodtang and yodsanklai have learnt how to use their hands effectively both to deal damage and set up their devastating thai style kicks have become much more effective fighters

He conteolled the pace most of the time , landed the more SCORING strikes ALL NIGHT , dominatrd in the clinch , better Fight IQ , better balance , etc... The Irish was more agressisve but his aggression was not as effective in both scoring and dealing damage only for crowd pleasing , his punches were always present but so was Singdam's strikes only difference is that Singdam strikes were scoring greatly while the Irish wasn't.
