Yoko Ono is badass. Of course, her vocals are a bit out-of-the-box and unsettling... that's her schtick. She's queen of the quirky Arrt Rock weirdos. Without her, it's hard to know if we'd have Bjork, Liz Frazer, St. Vincent, or Kate Bush. "Walking on Thin Ice" is a Postpunk and Mutant Disco classic, just as it is! It's the last song John Lennon worked on (he played skronking guitar parts), as he was assassinated on his way home from the studio with her after they finished it. There are several remixes, but it's all about the original for me. Other worthy Yoko Ono songs to check out are "Kiss Kiss Kiss" and "No No No". She does have some more traditional songs, but she's at her best when the freak flag is flying high, as with "...Thin Ice". She has LOTS of haters, but that just makes me love her more. They seem to miss the whole point. She's not Celine Dionne and she ain't trying to be. She's a one-of-a-kind artist who broke down a lot of doors for later women in the same fields of Art, Rock, and Art Rock.

The lyrics are really quite good. "Walking on thin ice, and paying the price, for throwing the dice in the air", and "I may cry one day. But the tears will dry, whichever way. And when our hearts return to ashes, it will be just a story." I like when she hurls a ralph about halfway through this.
