Unlike most Japanese women in her generatiion, she was born in Paris, and brought up in international circumstances. No wonder she was proficient in French! She played major roles in some US and European movies, but she is actually forgotten in Japan today.

Yoko Tani was only born in France, but lived in Japan from age 2 to 21. Then she returned to France to study and had to relearn the language.

@tempest, Sir, you limit yourself. Yoko Tani was born in France, but is completely of Japanese descent. Her parents being diplomats. I think what you meant as a compliment to Ms Tani, comes off as a very terrible insult to Japanese women as a whole. All women of the world share a beauty, which I am afraid is lost on you. That is sad.
