This is playgrounds own engine that they have made forza games with for years. This is the first non racing game to use their engine

If you liked this trailer, you REALLY need to react to Gears of War E-Day. The trailer was done in engine. It's done with Unreal Engine 5, prerendered using only the in game assets for the trailer and in that short 2 mins there is soooo much to unpack. Just may be one of the greatest game trailers I have ever seen.

It will be interesting to know York with your level of expertise in animation how likely you think rumours of character creation and the like are given what you see in the trailer. Whether people like it or not character creation is something fans are keeping an eye out for so would be good to know what you think the direction they have took is as an educated guess.

York can I ask you a few questions? No worries if not. Hopefully you can just answer it from a technical view point. It looks like they have hired someone to mo cap the main character in this game and there's a few rumours going round about it which you may be able to clarify: 1. Can you use one persons facial mo cap animations for one character model (say the girl in the trailer) with another 3d character model? So could you copy the mo cap facial animations from this main character and maybe use them on a different face entirely? Is that possible or are the mo cap animations fixed to a very specific character in mind? Would you ever use one actors facial mo cap animations on multiple 3d character models? 2. How flexible is the face customization with this level of animation in a game? Would you expect this level of animation to make it so you have only one fixed face and character model or is there a room for their to be facial and character customization with this level of animations. Again if you don't want to answer that's alright. But hopefully you can answer from a technical view point maybe? Don't want you to get in trouble 😉

The spot that caught my attention was @7:03 with the guy standing under the corner of the blue and white topped cart. His feet are clearly off the ground, or there is a trick of the light making it feel as though his feet are off the ground. I know that’s incredibly tricky (as the problem has been around for decades) but hopefully that’s just a miss on their end. As for the rest of the scene I could not find a single other issue 👍 Well done as always btw 🫡

A lot of this is gameplay they just removed the HUD

Thanks for your input on this. The Fable reboot is my most anticipated game in so long that I'll be gutted if it doesn't live up to its promise. My only real concern for the Fable reboot is the tone. Colorful storybook visuals, music, and corny humor are paramount to the experience for me and without them all it's just another game using the Fable name to sell it. Not that it would be bad, just not Fable. First off, I don't really want it to look realistic. I loved the story book asthetic of the previous games, particularly the original. I want colorful, fantastical, magical, etc. The ideas are there, but visually it looks like a more realistic take on the storybook world and far less colorful and stylized than I would like. I highly doubt it, but i really want the storybook cutscenes to be in the game still. Perhaps start out as pages from the book and then transition the scene on the pages to real time? That would be great. Equally important is the music, if they don't get Russell Shaw and Danny Elfman back it just won't be the same. Like a Donkey Kong Country game without David Wise composing. Third and also as equally important is the humor. If it's not the corny/British humor of the originals. *EDIT* One other minor concern is that the reboot is being made by a studio that to my knowledge has only ever made racing games. That does raise some concerns for me as well. Yet sometimes a studio can do amazing work outside of their norm. In the end i j8st hope the games turns out great and the franchise can return because Fable 1 & 2 are some of my absolute favorite games. A positive out of a new studio is the game can be kept in check. I always liked Peter Molyneux. Without him the games wouldnt exist, but I think he was also detrimental to the games. He always seemed like an overly enthusiastic person with great ideas, which is what i like about him, but sadly they never worked or felt dully realized more often than not.

I really hope its at least as long as the originals and just as funny and fun of course

ALOT of this is gameplay including when Humphrey was saying “Skill, Talent, ect” each segment was gameplay Xbox just has a new way (it seems) of making games as UI less as possible if possible.. I think the games going to be REALLY good as Eidos Montreal is actually who’s making the RPG mechanics/gameplay systems.. While the Forza Tech engine handles graphics (imo) better than UE5..

It's just fable (no numbers or numerals) just simply fable. And playground games created and is still developing forza horizon, it still is an ongoing series , a realistic arcade racing game. F.Y.I. 0:42

Even if I don't like this trailer, I allways like York's video because his channel is awesome, his way to share with us his thoughs gives a great vibe for us to stay until the end !

One thing I can say between last years trailer and this year's is that the female protagonist actually looks a little more feminine.

Nice breakdown. The game world is beautiful, the creatures fantastical and well done.. the animation detail is awsome. I am however holding out to see actual game play and Character creation before I decide one way or the other on preordering.

At 11:10 in the video, you were questioning the ethnicity of the main character. I wouldn't say she looks strange. A parent to a biracial child myself, I would say that she looks biracial (half black, half white). They nailed her features. The texture of her hair is fine, but also coarse. Her lips are full, and her skin has a hue to it that, although her skin is fair, she doesn't look quite caucasian. In the black community, we refer to light skinned complexion as redboned. It's when someone appears to have more black features but also appears to be as fair skinned as a person who's caucasian. The yellowish hue to her skin is a dead giveaway. This may be the first biracial videogame protagonist.

I think for the girl, they were trying to capture a subtle ethnicity mix of white, distant black and Moroccan, which may be unusual, but I like it.

I think the game looks good though her face does look rather effed up. Not a deal breaker but i'd rather a main character(male or female) not be in uncanny valley territory.
