Station inn at ribblehead is great. One of the few pubs in the area that offer you to stay over. It isn’t a freebie, make sure you buy some food and drinks for their generosity.

Flying by the seat of your pants" means to do or take action without a plan, to go by feel, to make decisions in the moment. This phrase dates from the early years of aviation when airplanes had few navigational aids and flight control systems. The pilots relied greatly upon their own senses to gauge the plane's position, performance, and to find their way. They flew by experience, intuition and feel. With the seat being the largest point of contact between the pilot and the plane, it was from the seat of his or her pants that the pilot could feel how the airplane was reacting to his or her controls and how well the engine was operating.

Great video Chris and I feel your pain.. I have a medium’ wheel base sprinter with a bed in, and been to the dales to fish a few times.. no more!! It’s pretty but the roads for a bigger van are just too narrow.. it’s Anglesey and Scotland again for me this summer!! Gaz.

Just near Coldstone Cut there’s stump cross caverns (we stayed over there which was great) which is an interesting visit and also nice walks near there - lovely places - haven’t been to Brimham Rocks for years - nice to see. You’re right on the dales with the small roads and unforgiving walls 😀 Station Inn is cracking - nice view look out over too - nice grub too! All the best, David & Rachel 👍

Just back from a couple of days touring the Mull of Kintyre the B824 is an awesome drive steep up and down single track with passing places with beautiful view of Arran and some really nice park ups also down to Keil point St Columbia’s chapel Footpints and Holy Well definitely recommend 👌

I know what you mean, a few months ago In the Dales, I made the mistake of following my sat nav, went up the narrowest lane for miles, stone walls either side, it was just wide enough for the van with care. Very stressful mate!!

Cracking video - and loved Grumpy Chris meets a subscriber on a random road in the middle of nowhere. Clearly we lurk everywhere the more you get. I love Ribbleheads Viaduct, and the surrounding area - such as the various caves, Mallam, Janet Foss and Goredale Scar - but glad to hear the pub takes campervans - as I might use that one the next time I am in the area. Just a random thought - if you take those cloth like wraps, perhaps sew a few together, and toss all of Dani's stuff in it, and even hanging it up in them.

Stopped at the station a time or two. Be aware it gets very busy as does the lay-by at the bottom of the hill. Great pub and good food 👍

The narrow road's are lovely to drive on nothing like it slow down and pull in that's all. You will be fine take your time I have live it Derbyshire most of my life.

Ha ha welcome to the Yorkshire dales, I thought I’d spotted your van, our roads are a nightmare, have to agree and I have a small vw , hopefully it wasn’t to traumatic and you visit again, most folks are friendly and welcoming for vans 😊

This is my area, I have a small bit of land that I use as a base. I live in my LWB Sprinter and a base is a must especially at my age. Your right about the roads but you get used to them. My pet hate is the drivers who cut corners on blind bends. I know most of the wild camping places in the Dales but got to keep them to myself as they would be full of VW Transporters.😉

If you think those roads are bad, you should try Cornwall. It's like driving in a 6-foot wide ditch with 8-foot, near-vertical sides. For every three hundred yards you drive towards your next pasty, you end up reversing two hundred to let a bus or caravan past! Ye'd gan reet grumpy! 🙃😂 Also, I don't think that there's such a thing as a 'good' instant cappuccino. You'd probably be better off with a capsule machine.
