YORKSHIRE PUDDING FOR BREAKFAST??! Good value (though inconsistent) buffet brekkie at TOBY CARVERY!!

We were looking for a breakfast buffet place and after a search online, Toby seemed to be the best value and had interesting dishes like Yorkshire puddings and potato hash. They were also open early enough for us.
The last time we had a Toby breakfast was many years ago, and we returned to the Chadderton branch where we were overall very impressed with the offerings - staff were friendly, food was cooked fresh and the Yorkshire puddings and hash browns were nice and crisp.

After this, we were eager to return to Toby but made the mistake of visiting the Hoole Village branch in Chester which wasn't great. Staff were unwelcoming, hash browns were hard and stale, hash was rubbery, and the Yorkshire puddings had no onions or bacon bits in. Food was also generally lukewarm.

It's a shame that the quality in the offering was not consistent across the branches, but we now know which Toby branch to avoid in future!
Find a decent Toby branch near you and get ready for a heart attack on a plate (or a few plates)!!

We were plesantly surprised by the good quality of the breakfast for the price, though the standard is inconsistent. Hope the branch near you is one of the better ones!!!

may be your second YP time, could they have just been from the night before warmed up and that why harder and no bacon etc in it The simple thing is you need to have seconds to make it worth it. or you just may as well make your own at home with the things you like cheaper. since you don't get fried bread. but is still better value than many other places.

Agree that to make it worth your while, you should go back a few times and load up on your faves! The sausages were really good quality so that was a fave of ours :D

Oh dear! I have just realised that our local Toby in Barry, South Wales, need to be torched and rebuilt. This place looks so clean and modern. Ours is grubby, sticky and dated. Even the air conditioning has been broken for about 5 or 6 years and they won’t fix it. I’m done....!

Do they let you go back for more? If not, that was very amateurish plate loading ;) I've been to a Toby Carvery before, but only for the normal carvery, and they don't let you go back for more meat, only the cheap veg items. Also is the Tea and Coffee included?

Hi Arthur, yes you can go back for more for brekkie!!! Drinks are sadly not included, but you can get unlimited tea/ coffee for around I think it was £2. Enjoy!

You can go back for more as often as you like. Many 'all you can eat' buffets are misleading and limit the amount you can actually eat or limit you to one plate of food but Toby Carvery has no such limits

Not the best quality I've ever had but a long way from the worst and considering the price and portion size (technically infinite), it's good value for money.

The sausages are among the best brekkie ones we have had, and the bizarreness of Yorkshire puddings at breakfast is a real treat!

All looks tasty but I couldnt understand the gravy with the Yorkshire puddings for breakfast, Yorkshire pudding with the rest if that's what you fancy but putting gravy with it ? ? 🤔

Well neither Yorkshire puddings nor gravy are normally served at breakfast, but when you have the one, you have to have the other!! LOL.... Strangely, it worked out well :D

I really like the concept of a help yourself carvery but the handles have to be the most unhygienic things ever , imagine how many hands use them and I bet not all clean probably germ ridden and who knows what else is on them . Always use a serviette to make contact not your hands .

How can you say tomatoes are pointless? For me tinned plum tomatoes are essential and black pudding.

Fair enough, it just seems like the one element of a grease-filled, heart-attack inducing culinary experience which doesn't quite fit the brief, and hence 'pointless' :D
