It is important to note that the Cubs picked up Hendricks's option. He will not be lost to free agency.

Thanks! Good callout, by the time I recorded the audio over the weekend, his option wasn’t exercised yet but I’ll pin your comment so people can see the update.

The Giants are all in on him and have said they won't be out bid for him. Yamamoto states he does not want to be on any team that already has a Japanese player
@JabroniBaseball8 ай бұрын
The Giants could be the dark horse there but Yamamoto has said that’s he’s keeping an open mind playing with Japanese players. In fact he’s said one of his main objectives is going to a team where he can seamlessly transition to MLB life
@edomarpez18408 ай бұрын
Yeah....they said the same thing with Arson Judge
@ileneplantone38178 ай бұрын
The Dodgers have said the same thing. This guy would be a fool to sign with the Giants. I assume he would prefer to win which isn't going to happen with that team. Yes I know that the Dodgers choke in postseason BUT the lack of pitching played a huge part in that too
@michaelrotter11348 ай бұрын
@@ileneplantone3817 I can see you have an extremely short memory. Plus, really good pitchers want to pitch in SF. Typical Dodger fans, run their mouths and can't win shiit win it counts. Keep throwing money at it maybe someday it will finally pay off

9 strikeouts per 9 is not insane, it’s about average a lil above. Great k pitchers get like 14 ks per 9. That’s insane. 9 is most of mlb. His era whip and wins are insane. No home runs insane. He seems legit but will it transfer. He can get left handed ichiro type hitters. All of Japan. Left handed hitters in America are very different than Japanese who all bat like ichiro. I’d like to see his splits lefties vs righties maybe I’ll look this guy up. Either way looks like he’ll be a star at least as good as daisuke likely better.
@JabroniBaseball8 ай бұрын
You’re absolutely right. Definitely not insane at a glance. He relies a lot on soft contact if you watch his starts. What is nice about his k/9 stat is he can seemingly turn the strikeouts up at will when he uses his splitter and curveball more often.

No other Japanese players too so he will get all the eye balls he apparently wants. Hal has to open up his check book. Instant # 2
@JabroniBaseball8 ай бұрын
@@BestNewsClips well Andy Martino clarified a bit on that. Its not that he doesn't want to play for a team with no Japanese players. In Japanese culture, the only way they will consider a team that already has a Japanese star would be if that said star invites them to to the team. Its a way to show respect and Kodai Senga has made it very clear that he would be welcome and wants Yamamoto there.
@BestNewsClips8 ай бұрын
@@JabroniBaseball got it… Thank you for the detailed clarification. So in your opinion the Yankees don't have a shot with him?
@JabroniBaseball8 ай бұрын
@@BestNewsClips I still think they have a pretty good shot. The Yankees meet all the criteria with being a big city, a ton of money to spend and the legacy of big names like Ichiro, Hideki Matsui and Masahiro Tanaka before him. Im sure he'd love to be connected to names like that.
@Nolan331778 ай бұрын
Why does every left handed batter from Japan bat like ichiro. The righties have different stances, lefTies not, Even shohei.

Lefties have unlocked maximum efficiency haha

I have noticed that as well, I think it's so that they can start running to 1st on contact just like Ichiro did
@John-mw8fw8 ай бұрын
Pretty simple, he's Japan's best hitter, Japanese kids grew watching him so they emulate. Plus most Japanese players aren't 6'5 like Ohtani, so they aren't power hitters. Shorter players, hit for contact.

@@lawrenceterrell8471 Sale has a 25 million dollar club option in 2025 and UFA in 26 …although he showed some promise in 23 season I see him as gone after the 2024 season.
