This aired on PHC on my birthday while my mother was dying. I was so moved by the emotion and beauty of this piece that I played the other youtube version repeatedly over the next couple of days as my sweet mother slipped away. I am forever grateful for your angelic voices being the soundtrack to a beautiful end of her life.

You Are My Sunshine is a bright, joyful, tune (as long as you don't include the final verse). Mothers sing it to their children, pet owners sing it to their pets, lovers sing it to each other. This was harmonically adept, but the lighthearted spirit of the song is gone. 😐
