Absurdism is strangely hopeful. Camus made something wonderful with this way of viewing life. Nothing makes sense, that's why everything can be so amusing. My favorite quote from him is something like "should I kill myself or have a cup of coffee?", the little thing that is coffee can be what you live for that morning.

“Man stands face to face with the irrational. He feels within him his longing for happiness and for reason. The absurd is born of this confrontation between the human need and the unreasonable silence of the world.” ― Albert Camus One of my favorite quotes.

What's the book about?
@breadstick8623
@breadstick8623 Жыл бұрын
it's a book focusing on the end of a man's life and is full of Camus' ideas of absurdism, existentialism, and the acceptance of death. The main character struggles with extreme apathy and inner turmoil that leads to him doing impulsive things for no reason (like shooting someone). It narrates his impassive thoughts throughout his court case and an inability to be understood by others. I highly recommend Camus' work if you're interested in philosophy as he's the most well known absurdist and has some interesting stuff :]

@breadstick8623
@breadstick8623 Жыл бұрын
@@simplyritik I recommend taking a look into Camus' other work, one of my favorites by him is titled "The Myth of Sisyphus." It takes a different look at absurdism, following the perspective of the man Sisyphus who has been condemned to push a boulder up a hill for eternity as punishment by the gods. Camus conveys the idea that it is not about our situation and where we are in life, it is about rebelling against that suffering in order to find relief or even happiness. Some other classic reads are Ham on Rye, which follows Charles Bukowski's struggle in life, and the Catcher in the Rye. Goodluck :]
