My name is Larissa Girskaya. I am a professional musician and the author of the lyrics to "You Are The Only One" with the exception of a few lines that were written and performed earlier by Freddie Mercury.
I’d like to say that I don’t know English at all, and it is still a mystery to me how I wrote that text.
Freddie and I have a long-term friendly mental bond, and we are also very united by our love to Music.
One day I came across an old unreleased recording of a song that I hadn't heard before. And later a ready-made text appeared in my head, the text which I immediately wrote down...
Not long before Freddie came to me in a dream and said: "Take this song and do it! Don't be afraid of critics, you can't avoid it, but exactly it is that kind of advertising that drives the whole world. It's gonna be all right!"
In an interview given to the Japanese magazine "Music Life" in September 1986 Freddie Mercury said that in the future he would be happy to pass on his ideas and experience to other musicians and that he could support other people in their music career.
I am sure that this is exactly the case now because the original idea to release "You Are The Only One" was Freddie's and his help was very much felt throughout the entire process of working on the song.
Who exactly is this song dedicated to? - I don't know. But I think that everyone will find something important in it for themselves, something that Freddie wanted to say…
