In celebration of Professor Brian Cox - A Journey into Deep Space tour, Australia’s Science Channel and Lateral Events gave 6 students around Australia the chance to have their question answered in person. We used those same questions for this video with our guest interviewer, astronomer Dr Alan Duffy!

I love the way Brain Cox can't stop smiling when he talks about science. It really shows he has massive amounts of passion on the subject. I didn't understand some of this video (granted his way of explaining is fantastic and I understood lots more than I thought I would) but I could just watch him talk about science all day, watching someone with that much passion just commands attention, even if you don't get it.

If quality lies in resonance, then it should prove interesting to quantify it, somehow -- if this were a unisonic interview, we should also be able to compose harmonic interviews, or dissonant ones. By this line of reasoning, perhaps a lot of interviews fail because they're simply out of key.

Watching this in 2020 and this guy is still so fun to watch. Science in school bored me due to the way it was taught. As in memorizing random facts and equations for a standardized test instead of pushing for actual involvement and excitement in the science field. This guy has a true passion for learning and is amazingly good at talking about very complex theories and thought experiments at a layman mans level. Love listening to him

I learned stuff that scientists discovered through many years of hard work and experimentations. We also recreate those experiments. Most of all, I have learn that my own armchair thinking is not good enough to undercover the whole world; that we are now standing on the shoulders of giants like Einstein who himself was on Newton's shoulders. I think the most important question to be answered in astrophysics is "What is spacetime made of?". Since spacetime can be warped by matter, it must be made of something. Figuring out what spacetime is made of could then answer questions such as what is dark matter, what is dark energy, and why do particles behave as waves. Until we understand which thread is used to make the fabric of spacetime, I think the other answers will remain elusive.

Love this work Brian!!! I have enjoyed your work so much!!! Keep doing this kind of thing especially with kids 7yrs. through 27yrs old. Please add more explanation of water, and air, together demonstrate the similarity as in fluid dynamics. Please talk about bubbles in water or soda, pressure, speed of bubbles and volume. Most kids today have trouble with bubbles and the principles at work.

i have a question too. if photon moves at the speed of light, means time for photon has stopped and distance shrunk to zero so photon is standing still actually. but for observer, it is crossing the universe. so photon is standing still for itself and moving for observer. my question is: where in universe information that photon is moving stored? in photon or observer? and how?

I have a question: does 'time' operate in the same way throughout all the dimensions as described by M theory? In other words is 'time' common to all the dimensions?

The universe is the mix of factorial numbers one right angle to the other somewhat like E&M. And expand forever creating ripples and trap points as it expands.

On the pluto vs mars small planet with geological activity, surely with planet-scale-structures the complexity of the components (smaller sub-systems) will be what generates exceptions so it's almost silly to make general best-guess rules about planetary-scale, solar-scale and up structures (we don't seem to be able to cope with the eco-web of our own planet very well)
