I have this Phanteks case in black, had it for a about a week, air cooled my Ryzen 5600X (which I know is only a 65w chip) with a Noctua NHL9x65 cooler and I only have a 6600XT, temps on prime 95 for the CPU is 68C room temp as about 21C, running Time Spy stress test the GPU maxes out at 67C. Have the case in in compact mode with these temps. If I add in a couple of Noctua 120's in the top for air boost mode this knocks about 6/7 degrees off. So for me I just keep it in the compact mode as it does alright. I am pleased with the case though it looks way better in the flesh than it does on any of the videos I have seen, Phanteks launch one included.

The NHL9x65 fits?!! How much room do you have? Do you overclock at all? I was just about to buy the NH-L12S which is rated for a 5900x according to Noctua's website.

thermal tests from youtubers are absolutely pointless - it never takes into account various components - test always assume constant load - no one will ever run their components that way and more often than not the idle temps are fine ... I've stopped taking thermal tests seriously

In this mode, the slide-in mesh filter panels restrict air flow because they are layered behind the metal side panels. In this mode they could be removed without it looking weird. The metal side panels don’t have the best porosity ratio either and aren’t designed that well for airflow, which is a bit of a let down. Built like this you probably have to really tweak BIOS settings to make sure CPU isn’t being boosted too much, really have to limit it for thermals. But its a good baseline to test Air Boost mode to see how much it improves.

Funny that I just built my pc yesterday with this exact configuration. Same case, CPU, cooler, and same motherboard. I was not able to put the fan between the RAM and the cooler, so I put it on the outside of the case. I also had issues with thermals, but I solved them by disabling Dual Tau Boost in the BIOS settings.

Awesome case and it will fit my card in length and in wid……oh ffs. My card is 140mm wide and the max GPU width is 137mm. So thats off the table as well…..People still think 3xxx and 4xxx series GPUs are big….

You have to consider the fact that some of the cpus can run at 125 watts TDP easily. That power goes through the VRMs on the board before reaching the cpu. It is up to the end user to pair the right case with the motherboard/cpu/ram combo.

I'm almost sure that Noctua NH-L9x65 with the fan duct kit (NA-FD1) will provide much better results in this case.
@jaydev504
@jaydev504 2 жыл бұрын
The Noct site mentions that the duct kit isn't compatible with the NH-L9x65 under the "Details" section of the site. Did you find a way to make it work anyway?
@MrSebio87
@MrSebio87 2 жыл бұрын
@@jaydev504 Yes, officially is not supported because the L9x65 does not use screws to mount the fan on top of the radiator, so you can't use the plastic tubes provided with the duct kit as described in the manual. But, instead using bolts, you can push the tubes a bit to get through the fan holes on each corner, then fit the spacers. It is not perfect, because you need to use some force, but it works as intended.

I end up sending the case back. Sucks casue I really wanted to keep it. My cpu was undervolted and with a there limit of 75c and gpu was undervolted as well and it still was getting mid 70 to 80 Its the panels they need to be vented more the top ones and the lower one as well.

Not to put a downer on anything BUT....... Not very well thought about? Phantek do a 240mm AIO ( glacier1 ) which will fit there and remove stock fans and replace with phankets T30 fans, which also fit in there and why didnt you use a foundation card (half the size ) which would have given you the clearance at the top of the case to bend the liquid cooling pipes from rad over the top. Or even liquid cool it (with pump n res ) ....seems like you rushed it just to knock content out? Not to mention you could have dropped your temps by undervolting the cpu and gpu

A 95W TDP cooler may not the right one for a 125W TDP CPU. A 12600 non K would be just fine with the cooler. I personaly would not use a low profile aircooler with any CPU with over 65W TDP. I would opt for an AIO for the higher TDP ones. Im using the Noctua NH-L9x65 on my i5 11400 in the SSUPD Meshlicious case. And if ill one day uppgarde the CPU to something more high end ill just throw the tiny aircooler into a closet and install a 240/280 AIO. :)

@GearSeekers
@GearSeekers 2 жыл бұрын
Did you not listen to anything I said in the video lol. It literally makes zero difference to temps
@Daedy
@Daedy 2 жыл бұрын
@@GearSeekers I think you misunderstood the comment. It's not about cooler orientation or how the fan was offset like you said. This is about fan orientation on the CPU cooler, which you said nothing to that effect in the video. You set the A12x15 fan as exhaust rather than downdraft, which should be the default config for this type of low profile cooler. So you're feeding hot internal air through the heatsink such that the cooler is doing double duty of cooling not just the CPU but the system itself, instead of pulling fresh, cool air from the side panel that then cools down the heatsink hence the CPU directly. If after all that you still maintain it makes zero difference, it would still be odd for you to make that claim when you only showed us the CPU temps with the cooler fan as exhaust, but not as intake. Why omit the other numbers if you have indeed tested both modes?
