John Charles Thomas & Roberta Rene return from last week to debate Rock and Roll music. Once again, Thomas steps down from the quiz segment in favor of a serviceman from the audience, Corporal Bob Pepin.
NOTE: Most of the quiz segment for the 1st couple was lost due to recording glitch. The rest of the interview is intact. Also, please note that the audio and video go progressively out of synch starting around 8 minutes in. I couldn't fix it, but it's not too distracting until the very end. Sorry for these problems!

Every woman appreciates the adoration of men. That’s what these feminists miss. Kathy passed away three years ago, and seemed to have aged gracefully with time, not fighting old age by competing with young women for men’s attention. I’m so glad she married well and seem to have had a satisfying life🤗

@1Skeptik1 Yes, he made a conscious point of working with insinuation & double-entendre, jokes where the "dirty part" was understood in the imagination of the listener, without spelling it out explicitly. Groucho was outspokenly against profanity & raw vulgarity in humor; he was actually disgusted by that, & would never have touched the kind of humor of a Lenny Bruce, or even Mel Brooks. In one of his Dick Cavett interviews he spoke out this issue. He did draw a line, occasionally drawing it a bit further or a bit closer, but essentially, his approach was perched right on the narrow borderline between bawdy, provocative humor & tasteful restraint.

John C Thomas was a famous operetta singer. Passed away 3 short year after this show. Dec. 13, 1960. Due to his high spending lifestyle he died broke.

Rock and roll was at least music. Traditional pop music and rock and roll are dead. Rap is not even music, but it is called music. To me (and many others) it is just vulgar and mean talking with (mostly) purchased rights to background music created from a real musician. Thankfully, there is still music being created in other genres like country, jazz and blues among a few others.

I was raised in a very different world!! The downward spiral began in the 60’s.. The beautiful Kathy was not really Miss Ohio. A win in the Miss Ohio contest led to an appearance in the Miss America pageant ,not the Miss Universe. She was, in fact "Miss Ohio Universe" A whole different ball game. She surely deserved to win.

I watched a documentary on Groucho Marx once and the commentator said, "Groucho was humiliated into doing game shows because of his declining movie career." How is this a humiliation? He was well paid and made a huge contribution to American culture. Besides that, when De Soto was his sponsor he got free cars! lol.

Hard to believe but when they were filming this they were in the middle of a pandemic the way we are now. The Asian Flu of 1957-58 killed between 70,000 and 116,000 Americans. It came from China too. They had to race to come up with a vaccine. All the same stuff we are going through now. There were Navy sailors that got infected aboard ships. Very similar type deal.
