Thanks to Groucho, I now know that, in addition to being a teen heart throb of the 1960s, Fabian was also a form of socialism: en.wikipedia.o...
This show is nothing if not educational.
COUPLE #1: Audrey Kaufman, another contestant in the insane "Mrs. Housing Development USA" beauty contest / Stephen "All Flash and No Cash" Wayne
COUPLE #2: Lillie Knighton, school teacher / Judy Krotzer, fan of Fabian (the singer, not the economic system)

I'm old enough to remember having watch Groucho on TV in the 50s. What amazed me as a kid, even in the 50s, was that everybody in the audience was well dressed. They wore what we in the south called our "Sunday clothes," or as the old-timers referred to as our "Sunday go to meetin' clothes."😂

Loved that "shout out" by Groucho Marx to Fabian Socialism in the UK (which almost all of us would be vastly better off with). I had barely ever heard of Fabian the singer though. George Bernard Shaw was a great writer-pacifist-socialist-feminist-thinker. One of my favorite GBS quotes: Two percent of people think, three percent think they think, and 95 percent would rather die than think.

@@tomitstube She was being disrespectful... "What? Her a chick?! She's old!" Of course it's true, but the flattery went over her head and she didn't have the self-control to react in a less disrespectful manner. And no, Groucho wasn't trying to highlight the age of the schoolteacher by dubiously calling her young. Of course if you apply current feminist logic to the whole thing then you might think that the girl was offended that he'd use a "derogatory term". That's an analysis out of place, time, and context, but in any case if that were the case she'd have given the dirty look to Groucho not to the schoolteacher, wouldn't she? The girl also gave a dirty look when Groucho said "it's not a bad night's work for a little girl who's going steady". She doesn't see beyond herself very well.
