I have one I made just like this, built the same way. The problem I found over time is the boards, with enough weight, tend to tip down as they compress the 2x4 blocking. If I were to make it again I'd put them at a slight angle to keep boards from sliding off the front. I fixed it with shims. Another fix would be to not hoard as much wood 😂
@EveningWoodworker Жыл бұрын
To counteract that, I cut the blocks and supports at a 5 degree angle angling up so it eventually will level out.

I live in a historic district and grab old 'scrap' wood that people are throwing out. Old 'soft woods' get really hard over time as the sap hardens/crystalizes.

Works great! Ive multiple comments on mine. And it holds a ton of weight! Thanks for the idea. Much appreciated!

Great idea, but I would make an 85 instead of 90 degrees cut on all the parts, which is just as easy to cut and assemble the same way as seen here, and the 5 degrees angle will prevent any lumber to fall out of the rack and harm anyone. Stay creative and safe /Pia

It's hard to see in the video, but all of the cuts are actually at a 5 degree angle. So yes, you're exactly right!

This is why I always load up 'scrap' wood and save it whenever I see it driving around the old 'hood on trash night.

I love when the load shifts and you have a lapful of lumber!!! You know I'm right. Within 30 to 40 years. Come back an' tell me I'm wrong, meanwhile I'm right!!!
