Loading in hasn't been a significant problem. The problem ia that once I'm loaded in, it takes 2-3 minutes for the area to populate.

I found a weakaura that sets this cvar and view distance on load up and reverts back to custom option after load. It's called "fast load" by schlag. Anyone else try it yet

When i log in, my blizzard time manager is 4.6 seconds in the addon but when i /reload is 0.174. Is the addon actualy using the blizzard addon to extract loading times thats why adds that time or there is something wrong on my side ?

If it's anything like using the regular graphics setting page, then it should be a one and done command. Have to experiment with your alts to see if you notice a difference with and without retyping it again.

Man, I hate raiding WeakAuras so much... I hope they find a way to get rid of them, especifically. I love UI customization auras but the raid ones are SO dense and depending on them for high end raiding is awful

The graphics settings distances, ground, etc, SSAO , depth, etc it’s what it makes hard to load, if you don’t care then wait 1min each instance, if you have power 5X RTX (future) then maybe don’t care but for mortals and other platforms (i game on Mac ) then you should care , distances only turn it max if you want a wallpaper , a selfie etc, for combat, rendering the stone side to the tree 3KM away, doesn’t help your combat, not even you will care if you see it, i do have Shadows at high, not ultra, Liquids (consume a lot of process even if your camera can’t see them) i use it at low, sometimes mid, depth and compute effects low, SSAO disable (its for sharper corners, like stairs or square things ) and distances, environment and ground 6,6,8 bc i like to see grass and details on ground when exploring. I’ll share this vid to a friend , bc struggle with loading

TBH having good SSD and WOW installed on it shouldn't make a problem no matter how much addons you have. Ofc with a good bunch of RAM memory. I prefer to have 3-5sec longer loading screen than remembering to swap profiles in addons and reaload the game for that.

This video can be summed up by: if you have serious loading problems AND a whole lot of WeakAuras, disble the addon as much as you don't need it, and use the console command. Just that will half your loading times, I just tried the view distance and console command and load times are ~60% faster

I used to have crap load times and the big fix (beyond having WoW on an SSD) is just removing all the addon bloat. WoW's default UI these days really doesn't need a lot to make it work.

My friends joked at me about how I only literally use just DBM and Weak auas for addons. I don't even have a DPS meter (why should I need one? I'm a healer/tank never a DPS). They actyually kept linking this video in discord.

I have my OS and WoW on my m.2 and noticed a huge improvement this last patch. Can't tell if it was WoW settings or Nvidia updating their video driver correctly. I used to never get more than 35 fps in Valdrakken or in a raid, since this patch, I get 60 fps all the time and my load times are a lot smoother. I hadn't touched settings or changed hardware. I'm still using an i7-7700 CPU, 2400mhz DDR4 RAM 16 gb, Samsung M.2 Pro, Nvidia 2060 GTX video card

Your internet connection speeds also have a huge impact. If you're at a fiber internet or 500 megabits per second or higher, you shouldn't have much in the way of load times unless there's world latency.

Installing wow on good nvme resolved all the problems. It loads like 3-4 seconds with all the addons.

Get a decent nvme m.2 and you wont have this problem. If your playing games on a mechanical drive you're just screwed. Using just "details" load times are fast as hell with a good m.2 storage device. Now you have an addon for your addons....Just get good and learn to play without the addons telling you how to play. DBM is basically built in now. Yall just need to get good. Period... For my main pc I still have a disk ssd, but its low storage so I want to buy a new one to put WoW onto so it will load my game faster. I just cant figure out whats better between disk ssd and nvme m.2 ssd as you suggested. Been trying to read up on it, but feel like its either "its great" or "you dont need to use it just stick to regular disk ssd". On my old desktop I got WoW installed on a disk ssd and already noticed a big difference in load time, but if I get a decent nvme m.2 ssd, you think that will be noticable better? Any help/tips appreciated, I'll check on here again tomorrow.

Blizz should just remove addons, add a few key addons to the game like a damage meter but ban everything else. Blizzard could look at some of the quality of life addons and simply add them to the game. But any weak auras, dbm, or addons that basically play the game for you should just be banned. They need to make the game very hard because they know there's a lot of addons that make the game easier, they don't need to make the game artificially harder they just need to ban addons that make the game easier. Look at the top players streaming, they have so many addons tracking things for them that they don't need to actually pay attention to a lot of stuff.

the game is too complex to play optimally without addons. removing addons without reducing class complexity and class identity is impossible. simplified classes would start to be too similar to each other. fights would be too similar to each other too. players would hate the amount of player and enemy pruning needed to make what you're saying possible

This sounds like a good idea until you realize how many addons are either really specialized for doing specific stuff in the game, or really helpful for people with disabilities. Blizzard wouldn't want to push away so many people, which is why they haven't done that. I there's a big difference between addons that track combat stuff and ones which, for example, help you work out where to find a particular transmog, or determine if you already have it or the like. The right thing to do is what Blizzard have been doing - making the game work better and better without addons, so you can minimize how many you need. I use maybe 1/3rd as many addons as I did in say, 2016 now. If they keep doing that, only really specialized addons will be needed in the longer-term.

I just think we need to find a better balance so Blizzard doesn't have to make content artificially difficult because addons are making the game much easier than it should be.
