That went really well. How are these markets organized? Can any seller just join or is there a limited amount of spaces? Here there is a limited amount of spaces. And if you want a space at a certain market it can take years before you can get a space. And you have to pay for the space of course. Always a joy to watch the market 👍

Organized by a city. Fairly easy to get in if you’re a farmer. They are becoming a rarity here in the USA. Difficult if you’re an artist or crafter. Expensive to sell out. What are the farmers markets like in the Netherlands? 🇳🇱

@@chadsproduce I am not sure if we have specific farmers markets. Most markets are general markets where they also sell things as fabrics and fish and candy, and so on. And the market authorities keep a close eye on the diversity from the market so that it is not just one type or product that is offered to the people. And the people who sell the products are not farmers either. They buy their products on the auction. Some farmers who grow fruit like raspberries and cherries and such sell fruit from their land. In those cases they usually have a small shed or a cabin from which they sell the fruit. But that is very seasonal. And most of their produce that they grow is for the export. Did you know that the Netherlands is the second largest agriculture exporting country in the world in terms of value? I was just doing some research for a video that I would love to make about our water management that dates back to two thousand years ago, and about our agriculture and the size of it. The numbers are staggering, especially compared to all other countries in the world. Last year our agriculture export had a total value of 124 billion US dollar. Which makes the Netherlands the second largest agriculture exporting country after the US in terms of total value. About 80 billion dollar from the total value was from our own production, the rest was from international trade. We are a country that is 186 miles long at the longest measurement, and 173 miles wide at the widest point. The total surface area is around 17.000 square miles, and 18% of that is water. Compared to all other countries we have the highest animal density of farm animals per square mile in the world. And less than 2% of what we produce is for domestic use. Watermanagement and agriculture is huge in the Netherlands. Even I had no clue that it was this big.
