Hi Dave , just successfully upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 this morning ( 24th January 2020) took about an hour and was done with no issues . Many thanks for posting this great advice.

First of all I would like to thank you for successfully installing Windows 10 to my old aging Inspiron 570. I was ready to buy a used desktop on Craigslist but was afraid I would lose all the records and then I planned on getting a new one on which Windows 10 already installed. I also thinking of buying the license and then I decided to watch KZfaq. I watched a lot but it did not interest me until I saw yours which is very concise and complete. I took my chance knowing nothing but just followed your step by step instructions and BOOM! Done, done, done. Thank you once again by helping not only me but other people.

I bought a used PC recently and found it still had Windows 7 on it. I watched this video and as it was a activated I decided to try the update. Yesterday (14/10/2020) I had some spare time so I went for it following your video. It went like a dream and only took about 1 hour. I was surprised to find that most of the programs that were already installed still worked perfectly, (FlightSim X, and open office to name just a couple). Thanks to you, Dave, I now have a very fast computer with a fully activated Windows 10 operating system.

IT WORKED!!!! 10/10! Yesterday night I followed you video and it worked perfectly!!!! I think all together for everything it took me about an hour! Was not too long at all... very impressed and happy. All of my files were fine and nothing was deleted. Thank you so much for your help with this as I needed the Xbox App so I could stream. It runs just fine. It's not slow or freezing at all. I recommend this video.

Thank you Dave, The new install worked for me Dec.12 th. The whole process took me 6 hrs from start to finish. At times I thought it stopped, but I left it alone, just have to be patient. From what I can see everything is great, it’s like I have a new computer, just have to learn all the new features. Very much appreciated

I have to work from home now due to Covad19 Today is Sunday March 22 2020 I was able to successfully install from Windows 7 to 10 for free. A few years ago I bought added memory and more than doubled my PC memory. Sure made my Dinosaur run faster

Namaste Dave, On 2nd May, 2020 I've followed the steps shown in this video & voilà my PC got freely upgraded to Windows 10 Home from Windows 8.1 Home and it's also activated automatically! Moreover all my data is still there & almost all Windows 10 compatible applications are also working without their re-installation. Thanks for the video. :)

Can't believe this worked, followed all the steps and hey presto i have now got Windows 10 for free. Updated a 2011 Samsung laptop Windows 7 on 06/01/2020. Took about an hour or so to complete the install, well happy. Thank you so much for your help with this video, its saved me any worries with no future security updates and you have saved me a few quid as well. Thank you again.

I did this yesterday 1/14/2020 from windows 7 everything worked fine and windows 10 was activated.

12-15-2019 Just finished the entire process. So far it looks good. Everything worked according to plan. I would however recommend disabling your firewall before beginning. It was the only part that caused me one error, but after I fixed this it went off without a hitch. Thank you so much!

Upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 June 28, 2020. It works. Just note that i did a fresh install. I did not keep any of the my files because when i tried earlier in the year in a different computer, i was not able to get to full installation. I ended up fresh install in that computer too. Both computers working fine. It is straight forward and easy to do. Thanks for your video and information.

Today (2/17/2020), I used the provided Microsoft link, and have successfully upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Home (not Windows 10 Pro as shown in this video at 3:39). It took about three hours to finish without any problems. Thanks so much for this great video.

I updated my old PC and did another one last week, 1/25/2020 after my 74th birthday. :) It took a long time, because I created a win7 Image on 4 DVDs + 1 recovery Boot-up DVD. Both new installs were from Certified Windows 7 systems. Thanks for posting this money saving video! :)

Hi Dave I started updating to widows 10 from windows 7 it went trough the whole process untill it reached to updates it goes to 46% then it stop ,it keeps on looking for updates to no avail i had to stop it after four hours ,what could be the problem.

Thanks Dave! You saved my rear end on getting my taxes knocked out with Turbo Tax this year in May 2021! YES this still works as of 12 May 2021 as I successfully upgraded my Windows 7 Toshiba laptop to Windows-10! This allowed me to be able to continue to use Turbo Tax (as they cut a devils deal with Microsoft requiring Windows-10 to use) to knock out my taxes saving me $300 or so I am sure. I downloaded Windows-10 upgrade for free, Turbo Tax deal for $35 and filed state taxes for $25 - lot cheaper than hiring someone to do taxes or buying new computer with Windows-10. One note to you all out there that try this - I ran into one minor road block in that my update got stuck in the "Checking for Windows updates" phase of the upgrade and would not come out of it even after leaving it running all night. Found out this was probably due to pending software updates from my Windows-7 system. Fix Action is to run (in cmd term window) "services-msc" which pops up window where you can go and "Stop" Windows Update Service. Than go to C/Windows/Software-Distribution folder and delete all files in it. I went back and executed again the Windows-10 upgrade exe file and voila it worked and finished out successfully per rest of your directions! Appreciate you man - keep up the good work!

Upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 yesterday/today. Computer hung on a restart near the end, and leaving it overnight didn't solve anything, so switched off, restarted and it resumed updates at 85% and carried on to completion. A bit hairy, but that's it done. Thanks very much for a concise how-to-do it video. That's future-proofed my desktop PC for another few years!

2020-01-25 Upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro . Dell XPS 8300 (2011) / Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.40 Ghz / 32Gb RAM / 2TB Sata III SSD / AMD Radeon HD 6450 Updated to the current version of Windows 10 (Version 1909/Os Build 18363.592). Like you mentioned some apps were not compatible with Windows 10 and were removed. Overall the upgrade went smoothly and without issues. Took about an hour. Thank you for this post!

12/26/2019: I've been trying this method all day today and i keep getting the following error: 0x8007042B - 0x2000D The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation This error usually occurs around 30% of the final installation phase. It will restart my computer and a message saying "Undoing changes made to your computer" will appear for a moment before starting windows 7 again. If anyone can offer a solution to this I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you Dave. I was worried about this process removing any of my apps and it didn't. For anyone else worried, do NOT be. Just go ahead as the video explains. Just to let you all know, the programs I was worried about are Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom, Bridge, Sony Vegas Pro and Cinema 4D. Once it asks you to keep the programs and files, you make sure it is TICKED and continue. I have an i5 desktop with only my apps and OS on my SSD and the whole upgrade process took me 1 hour 14 minutes. Sweet!

I now have Windows 10. These instructions are so easy to follow and I didn't need to use my code. Thank you so much.

Followed your directions, pretty straight forward. Got all the way through, and two things. I needed to update my NIC driver. Good think I had another computer to download that and thumbdrive it over to the PC I was upgrading. Then I found the OS was not activated. I put in my product key from Windows 7, and it accepted that. Hope that helps some people. Thanks for a blessed short video that was very helpful.

I did my installation today. This video helped a lot. It went smoothly and Dave's prompts are clear and accurate. I have a Dell XPS 8700. Upgraded to 12G of RAM a few years ago, and replaced the stock graphics card with an NVidia GeForce GTX 950. Since Win7 is expiring, I upgraded my HDD to an SSD, and this morning I performed an in place upgrade to windows 10. It works, and the system lists as "Activated with a digital License". Yay!

Thanks for the video. The link still works as of 2/27/2020 and was able to upgrade both of my computers to Windows 10. However on one computer Windows wasn't automatically activated after installation. I had to turn the computer off and back on. Afterwards Windows was activated.

Thanks so much for this fabulous tutorial on the upgrade. I followed along while I just did the upgrade. Took me about 3 hours but all is well here on this January 8th, 2020. The time consuming came with all the searching my computer had to do for the proper upgrades and drivers. It'll take a few times to get used to Windows 10. Can't wait till Microsoft makes it obsolete for the future 30 versions of Windows yet to come!
