I recently purchased a Scout Olympic truck camper for my wife and I to go camping, exploring and overloading. We had been considering a camper van or a roof top tent, but, one day by chance, while looking at a Winnebago Sprinter Van, the dealership we were at had a Scout Kenai on the lot so we checked it out and fell in love with it. It's perfect for us. Plus, we already had a truck- a 2021 Ford F150 2.7L super crew with a 5.5' bed. We eventually decided on a Scout Olympic, the midsize version of their modular campers. This video was filmed shortly before we got the camper, so there is a ton more Scout content coming, be sure to follow along. I believe the max payload is always on the inside of the driver door; it is on my 2023 F350 ; 4553 lbs.

That’s cool! Is yours spray in or plastic? From what scout told me, if you put it over the plastic drop in style the camper can shift around a bit.

@@aarongould mine is plastic from factory, I did add rubber mat on top of bed liner.

Great info! I have airbags and just air up with tire pump and was only $500. Your system is super easy!!

We had a 2019 chevy half ton with a Yoho. We took it across Canada and down through Cali. Then we came home and sold it. Hi from the U.P.

@@nealamesbury7953 we are aging and getting into the back of the truck and up into bed was getting difficult for my wife. But we enjoyed our time with the camper. We had one of the last ones with the Dickinson and did enjoy the flame.

Payload capacity is on a sticker in the driver side door jam. I have a similar XLT F150 (Crew Cab, FX4 off road package + max tow package) and my payload is 1804LB

Do you plan on keeping the Scout permanently installed on the truck or periodically removing and storing? If it’s the latter I couldn’t do without my bed cover so would probably have to invest in a cover I could easily reinstall, remove and store. Gonna follow your adventure.

I drive my truck as my daily driver, so I take the scout on and off for each trip-we've gotten pretty good at it. I actually just re installed my tonneau cover since we don't have any trips for a few months, and it was pretty quick and easy! Thank you!

Wow, I really dislike those plastic bed liners. Spray in liners are the only way to go. If buying a new truck, get the dealer to install one, they are making thousands off the sale so it is a small thing to ask for.

Open the front driver's door. There, you will find a sticker that gives you the exact payload capacity for your truck given all your accessories, and taking into account your engine size, gear ratio, etc... Given that it is a 4x4 I would seriously doubt it has a 2200lb payload. Please be careful. My 2018 f150 has a payload of only 1440. and it also has a maximum towing capacity and is a 4x4 extended cab.

He is wrong on so many levels and this is why a person should seek help when they don’t know. Payload will be the Scout PLUS the people/animals/stuff in the cab. The tires/rims should be focused on the load they can carry and less on off-road features.

Payload is on the inside the drivers door on a sticker… can’t believe you feel like you can give any sort of advice on how to setup your truck for a scout camper. You don’t know the trim level of your truck (it’s literally on the side of the truck), you don’t know where to find the payload of your truck without calling the dealer.
