The Elden Ring journey continues, with our hunting of the bosses we missed. Today we encounter a pretty popular, scary looking dude, Mohg, Lord of Blood. Apparently you can't even play the Shadow of Erdtree DLC unless you beat him so, you know what we have to do.

Lore explanation: Miquella is Malenia's elder twin brother, both born of Radagon and Marika, and Mohg's brother-ish (Mohg was born of Marika and Godfrey). Miquella was cursed with eternal youth, while Malenia was cursed with scarlet rot. The exact reasons for these curses are unclear; one theory is that it is due to Radagon and Marika being the same person, another is that it is due to the Outer Gods. Either way, Miquella wanted to cure him and his sister of their curses, and so he did a whole bunch of research into Golden Order fundamentalism that ultimately didn't work out, did some more research into Unalloyed Gold (which he used to make Malenia's sword, helmet and prosthetic limbs), and decided to run off to make the Haligtree. Within the Haligtree, Miquella aimed to transform himself into a god and be set free from his curses, and also he may or may not have had his own ideas for the Order of the world, but that's also not 100% clear. Before he could emerge from his cocoon, however, Marika shattered the Elden Ring and all hell broke loose. The timeline gets a little fuzzy here, but it more or less goes: World goes to shit, Mohg sneaks into the Haligtree and kidnaps Miquella, Malenia sees that Miquella is gone and goes to find him, Mohg does some blood magic to Miquella's cocoon (and possibly sleeps with him), Malenia's search leads her to Caelid (Mohgwyn palace is underneath Caelid) where she fights Radahn, their clash ends in a draw and Malenia is taken back to the Haligtree by Cleanrot Knight Finlay, whatever Mohg was trying to do is unsuccessful so he goes and tries to figure out how to make it work, time passes and something presumably happens to the cocoon for Miquella to reach out of it, then the Player shows up and kills Mohg. The exact order of these events can't be 100% determined (for example, another option is that Malenia fights Radahn before Mohg kidnaps Miquella), but this is my interpretation. Side note: I'm just a stranger on the internet and this lore is notoriously very difficult to parse due to how From Software tells stories, so its 100% possible I forgot something or made a mistake. Any other lore enthusiasts, feel free to point any such things out.

It’s pretty commonly believed that they fought because malenia was chasing miquella and the other stuff i believe is right too, the fact that the parents are the same person led to imperfections in the children that the outer gods used to “bless” the children

@@Fier07112 As far as I am aware, Marika/Radagon is the only confirmed example of rebishood in Elden Ring. Of the other known Empyreans--Ranni, Malenia, Miquella and the Gloam-Eyed Queen--none are known to be multiple distinct people, but there is, a possibility that Miquella is another rebis, as he is known to have a very strong connection to Saint Trina, and they are likely the same person (cut content outright states that they are). However, it's also possible that St. Trina is merely a separate identity Miquella uses in the same manner as Bruce Wayne/Batman. I don't have enough information from the base game to say for certain, and I haven't gotten through the DLC lore yet. Also, side note: Rebis comes from alchemy and is the final product of the Magnum Opus, a unification of both male and female qualities and often described as a divine hermaphrodite. I use the name as a descriptor for Marika/Radagon because they fit the definition, and Elden Ring has a ton of alchemical symbolism.

I’m pretty sure Malenia was sent after Radahn specifically by Miquella because Radahn was holding back the stars, and Miquella needed them to move for his ritual at the church of the eclipse. Then, while Malenia was gone, Mohg invaded the Haligtree and captured Miquella.

Honestly the way the new NPC Sir Ansbach talks and Ledas words when she wants to turn on him, I think he’s the one who split miquellas cocoon. But that also kind of doesn’t fully path out as to why he’s still alive after such a thing or how long ago it was.

Lore here: Miquella is Malenias Sibling who was kidnapped by mohg and then turned into that big ass thing in that cocoon that mohg loves ( and yes this officially makes mohg an Incest enjoyer) *edit with light spoils* after finishing the dlc I would like to issue a formal apology to mohg, stand up for victims of false blame and miqlesting

Mohg didn't turn him into it, it was Miquella who turned himself into a bigger humanoid thing and encased himself inti that cocoon thing to protect himself from Mohg and creepy ahh advances. So To try and speak to Miquella he stores himself inside of that humanoid to be Closer Ig to even tho he cant see or actually touch Miquella. If im remembering it right. To add on to your Kiddnapping point, bro was actually supposed to be there with Malenia but as we stated he was gone and sje is just stuck there wondering where her brother is, sad times.

Mohg kidnapped Miquella, Malenia’s little brother who was cursed with eternal youth, during Malenia’s battle with Radahn, Mohg went into the Haligtree and stole him while he was in his cocoon, resting. After doing that, Mohg injects Miquella with the formless mother’s (Mohg’s god who he worships) blood, in hopes of turning Miquella into a vessel fit for his god.

@@pipedownpipsqueakwell yeah, the whole story revolves around who gets to rule the Lands Between and what rules they get to impose on life and death itself. The whole reason the Tarnished exist, and why Marika did a lot of what she did, is because she realised she, the Greater Will and the Golden Order were wrong. Radagon only exists because the Greater Will knew Marika was about to betray them, he’s basically just the loyal half of her being.

Not sure if you actually care about the lore, but you kinda asked. Radagon and Marika gave birth to some kids who were fucked due to Marika and Radagon being the same person. So the twins were cursed. Malenia was cursed to forever rot and Miquella was cursed with eternal nascence where he basically looks like a baby all the time.

@@ducky2199 while I’m sure you don’t know, it’s not miquella he’s in love with. “Dearest” had nothing to with anything sexual. The reason he is aging up Miquella’s body is so that The Formless mother can have a body so he can be her consort. Miquella was chosen because he was the closest thing to Marika’s body. He’s definitely weird, but not for that reason.

Congrats! Now you play the DLC. Most people who have beaten the required bosses are the FROM "faithful" I believe. I think you have a lot of people out there who played the game and ran through it to the end and moved on. This is why you have the discrepancy in who has beaten them and who has not. Now you have those same people running back to gank Mohg and Radahn. FROM's DLC is typically harder and better than base game. Seriously, you're in for a real treat next weekend.

2:07 that's the best spot for farming runes man! still need to upgrade your armor, your mid rolling and got a nice bit of endurance, surly you could wear better armour get boost to your poise (how likely you will not be interrupted when attacking) and take less damage, just don't go into heavy, is no difference between a light medium and a heavy medium so get as heavy as possible without being heavy

One thing Sekiro has over every other game they've made is you can refight main bosses anytime you want as much as you like. I so wish every game let you refight bosses. Some tips for placidesax: he has a second phase where he uses red lightning, he has a attack where he forms a dark cloud and dive at you wait for him to be like mod dive then roll, always get behind him because if I remember correctly he doesnt have a back attack idk it's been awhile since I fought him

mogh is one of the bosses that i personally took on at the earlier part of the game at around lv 60 something i believe i was 68 but its been a bit he 2was pretty easy but i was running bleed arcane which he is weak to so that might be why his weapon is pretty good on stationary or slow moving enemys so its pretty nice to use

Mohg was my 3rd cinematic boss I faced in my very first playthrough. I got to him early by accident. I might've been around level 50-70 when I faced him. My build was more focused on being balanced across all categories, leaning more towards strength and dexterity. I lost to him 4 times, If not for the "barricade shield ash of war" (pre patch), I wouldn't have survived. 😅

I know it probably doesnt mean anything now, but on the chance you ever do this again, there are 2 items to help against him. 1 is a shackle that pins him (and margit btw) to the ground for a bit. 2 the actualy big item is for your flask (the one you mix yourself, not the healing one) it lessens the effect of his nihil

so after the fact, you can get a tear for your physick that will clear you of that bleed that happens when he goes into his 2nd phase. Honestly I beat Mohg without it, and never knew it existed until after the fact. Not super necessary, but it does exist.
