In Fallout 4, you will find a port-a-diner with a tasty looking pie in it inside the bar in Diamond City. After I sat there for 20 MINUTES... I finally win the pie! But when I got to "claim" it, it freaking said it was stealing to claim my reward. WTF!? It is like saying you blew $10 to finally win a prize in a claw game at a Arcade, and when you get the prize, you get arrested for taking it. This game has no logic whatsoever... :(

I tested this, for some reason when I took the pie, everyone pulled out their guns and killed me in seconds (I think the NPC trying to take it back got stuck). Imagine everyone wanting you dead, over a single piece of pie... Update: For anyone wondering if you can only get these pies from port-a-diners, the answer is no. If you get the Automatron DLC, do the missions until you get to RobCo Sales and Service Center where you have to defeat the Mechanist. In one of the rooms, there is a Eat-O-Tronic, and you can find a perfectly preserved pie in it and you can take it. So there is your answer if you asked this question.

You are correct. The pie machines in Fallout 4 are all smokes and mirrors. When you activate it, the animation of the claw tryna get the pie is played. Sometimes you get lucky and get the success animation. When you do get it, what the game does is SPAWN the pie in the machine's INVENTORY AFTER the ANIMATION FINISH. And since the inventory of this Pie Machine belongs to the place you're in, the pie that spawns is also considered not yours. The Pie is a Lie just like the Cake.

It is possible to get the pie, but you have to sit there and keep activating it until you get it. You can look it up if you want to, there's literally a wiki about it.

I got that one as well after many attempts even though I had full luck and I had to be hidden to retrieve it. I got the one at the hospital on my second try and noticed that it hadn’t come out, so I reloaded and had to give it a lot of tries before I won it again, but it still didn’t come out. It was then that I figured it was a bug and I should look it up. You can’t get the one at the hospital 😢.

I think if you can find the right angle and your sneak is high enough you can hide in the doorway and swipe it. Best result is starting "Confidence Man" so Vadim isn't at the counter and thus one less pair of eyes watching the entrance.

Yeah, the bugged ones are the worst. Even with maxxed out Luck plus boosters it can still take you 20+ attempts to get it; only to be denied because the game didn't bother to spawn the pie in the slot. 😉

I do have a mod installed that does that where I can clear ownership from any owned item by pressing a button while looking at them. So you can take (not steal) items in front of the owner and they will do nothing. Mods are great.

You must have cheated, these things never give the pie except for that ONE machine in Nuka-World that gives the pie 100% of the time. But otherwise, these things never let you win. Casinos are less rigged than these pie machines. lol

Anywhere you go, not mostly in settlements, every port-a-diner is free to play every time, no matter what. And yes, I deserved it because I sat there for almost around 10-20 minutes staring at it, constantly activating it until I got it, just to be dissapointed I couldn't have it after 20 minutes of doing nothing.
