Well to be fair frag grenades kill with the shrapnel yes the initial explosion definitely will kill and destroy anything near it but it’s usually the shrapnel that does the damage. So they would’ve been okay assuming they ran for cover in the 5 seconds after pin is pulled and the spoon is out but they would’ve had rubble to get past and everyone that knew the combination to the safe have either been mistified or given a heavy dose of shrapnel.

The slot he wanted to shove the grenade through is nowhere near wide enough to do so. The metal countertop, thickly layered ballistic glass, and the reinforced wall beneath will protect the employees. Additionally, the slot is a dip under the glass which means that the blast would act more like a shaped charge with most of the concussive force and shrapnel being directed towards the ceiling and back into the room with the robbers. The employees might suffer from some temporary deafness and maybe some bruises/cuts from loose debris like staplers and pencils. Nothing life threatening. The ONLY threat to the people in the cage is if someone opens the door. The guy you see opening it at the end of the clip is in on the robbery, but gets shot by the robbers later.
