I was in one for 5 years as well. I'm now one year no contact. I'm not going to lie, it was hard to stay gone but one year later I am THANKFUL TO GOD for snatching me away from that demon. We call it narcissism. The Bible calls it having devils. Those people come into our life and seduce us just to take us away from our purpose and to destroy us. Don't waste another minute in that dead end situation. IT WILL NEVER GET BETTER!

Totally can relate. It took me years before God informed me that I was dealing with a Narcissist. It stunk going through that, but my relationship with God is better and I'm soooo much stronger in God now. I'm almost totally free of being concerned about what people think about me. Yes, you are speaking facts! Sometimes when people take your kindness for weakness, you have to show them who you can be when prompted. I cut them off, blocked them, and kept it moving! I gave so much and helped so much and they thought I was weak and gullible and stupid, especially my mum. She treated me like dirt, gossiped and spoke behind my back long time and treated me like her doormat. Was there for her after dad died, she destroyed our family, she did one thing to many, that was it, the nail in the coffin. Told her why, and that is that, have had enough of this BS and backstabbing. I am now loving her at a distance. They put on pride to protect their wounded inner child and (it is a protective barrier for them) so they reject and belittle you before you may do it to them. It’s nice to be truly free , free to serve God the way I was created to serve Him. I quit my job because my boss was the toxic one , I started my own business. Yeah it was scary but I knew God had my back. I held on to my faith and walked in it. Now I’m no longer a slave to men. Now I have time to not only work my business but to serve in my church.
