Hi there, Liron here!
Today we'll look at a painting process with NO PENCIL LINES.
I want to show you how I experiment with painting directly, and seeing how far I can take such an approach to produce an end result.
You can find the reference photo here:

Thank you for watching 🙏

I use watercolor pencils and have gotten better results. The lines disappear with the added water. I am just using the lines for perspective and not as added pigment.

I have been working as a direct watercolorist for the last 3 + years. I love it, especially plein aire. I would never go back! It's really all about the values!

Without pencil lines actually will improve my muscle memory of perspective also i think besides appreciating colour mixing on paper

This is okay if you want a loose painting. I couldn't do it. I've seen some artists using watercolour pencils to draw out their subject. I've used Faber-Castell Graphite Aquarelle and that will disperse when wet although it will somewhat noticeably discolour light colours. My eyesight isn't great and I tend to draw a subject then as I go along, before wetting, rub away the pencil lines so they are very faint, then onto the next bit.

Thank you so so much 🙏😊 It's huge to know some watch all videos. The ratio of total subscribers to views per video is so skewed, it's very hard to tell if it's me or the algorithm haha. Much appreciated ♥

I have been experimenting with this in monochrome wash drawings. It's probably time to branch out into 2 or 3 colors. Thanks for the demonstration. (Edited to fix typo)

I'm not a huge 'celebrities' person. But, one famous artist I like to recommend people observe a bit is David Choe. His approach to watercolors is very interesting. His mentality on painting for fun versus painting for objective goals made a huge impact on me. (E.g. going back to a sketchbook and 'ruining' some of your work to learn to let go of expectations.) Watch his painting of batmans and wolverines, or any of his character pieces in watercolor. His first wash seems very random and loaded with unnecessary colors, and then the product is fantastic. I will follow up by saying that, unlike Liron, he is not a great teacher. His explanations are kind and detailed but definitely focused on making himself sound special. Liron is a great teacher who actually explains things so you can understand them. If you're paying for instructions then pay for a good teacher.

@LironYan He's the guy who painted the Facebook HQ. Most of his art is multimedia in a graffiti style. He's very interesting. I think he spent some in Israel working on a kibbutz in the 90s.
