Good question. I quit art in my mid 20's because I was unbelievably depressed and I realized that art, for me, was no longer cathartic, but rather the cause of my depression. I'm not 100% sure why, but I think it may have had something to do with the switch from art as a hobby, or a field of study in school, to art as a profession. The only other thing I enjoyed was music so it seemed like the logical choice to switch to. I had been playing guitar on and off for quite a few years at that point, but I hadn't taken it seriously up until then. Music, as well as teaching music, I enjoy so much that even when I'm not making any money from it I'm still happy doing it. It's very fulfilling and meaningful in a way that art never was.

@@chromaticusmusic It is very interesting how sometimes when something we did for pleasure becomes our job, we no longer enjoy it. I am on a Music forum called VI-Control where there are quite a few composers and over time quite a few have quite for the reasons you did art. I think it is that challenge of how your craft makes you feel, when you have pressures around it. I only do music as a hobby, as I genuinely love my career as a UX Designer, even if it has it’s up and down days, but I enjoy the challenge of music. I think I enjoy the learning a bit more than the doing, even though I applying myself to creating music. I just love learning how music works and effects emotions and uses past experiences and expectations to create images in our head. Really enjoying the content you have been doing, really opened my eyes to the use of chromatic music. You clearly have a very engaging style of teaching and explaining what can be difficult concepts to people like myself.
