Yeah I agree, sometimes I see overly complex Notion setups for their personal tracker which is unnecessary. It might be cool to implement a PARA setup, but if you're not a content creator, just works in a desk job (which already has other tracking / project mgmt software), then maybe PARA might be too complex. Even apple notes might be sufficient! Notion is just a tool at the end of the day, and it's popular because you can mould it to the way it fits you. Not the other way around. :)

Veyr well said! Having a fancy complex system just to say you have a fancy complex system is just goofy. Mold your systems to exactly what works for you, not the other way around!

The most common reason people say they don’t keep up with notion is complexity, so your approach makes so much sense. I pretty much only use notion for keeping a content bank and for keeping the big picture stuff together aesthetically so I get a 360 view of my goals. There’s a few things I have that benefit from a database but I personally prefer to use other tools for “projects”.

Yes! Complexity is absolutely pointless if it creates more friction in your workflow or (worse) makes you give up on your planning system completely. Sometimes simple is better!
